Risto, who has already missed more games than he’s played the last 3 years, only lasted 1 game and 2 shifts after returning from his latest injury. Not counting his 2 shifts tonight he’s on pace for a little over 20 games played this year. Hopefully McDonald didn’t make the trip to the AHL yet.

Already on one of the worst contracts in the league and a player who seemingly gets injured every time he laces up the skates, he is considered a core player for the Flyers.

Once the bodies of aging players who take a lot of physical punishment start breaking down, it’s time to move on but the Flyers keep doubling down on him.

look at the bright side, they will be able to get him signed to a cheap ext

they both will at some point as all coaches and GM’s do

the flyers do not have mike tomlin type history to keep someone around that long. Shit Clarke was canned

Dan Snider never fired Clarke, that was his son Jay. Dan then fired Jay and rehired Clarke who served 19 total years as GM, not including Senior VP, etc. He retired on his own terms citing burnout and fatigue.
Tocchet wasn’t fired from his last job, he went to the team that threw the most money at him, on his own terms.
Hell, even Torts probably would’ve finished his current contract if DB had a choice in the matter. Results on the ice be damned.

Short of an extremely public meltdown like Torts or DB being fired first, my guess is Toc finishes out the contract at which point he will be 66 years old.
Unless fans stop coming to games en masse DB’s job is safe for the next few years.

    Go team culture!

dont see tocchet lasting the whole 5 years at all. Danny will be fired by the end of the 2028 season, unless a miraculous turnaround.

Bill when it eventually happens, who gets fired first Tocchet or Briere?

Not Bill but i can’t imagine either getting fired.

Torts. As horrible as he was in pretty much every possible way a coach can be except in dealing with the press was in no danger of losing his job. The press loved him and we got puff pieces from the 4 nations tournament about how people didn’t know “the real tortorella” who was kind to puppies and helped little old ladies across the street. Plus he wanted to bring back the “Flyers culture”. Even after it became publicly known he abused York and told the world he didn’t want to coach this team DB still lamented he wasn’t able to bring Torts back for another year.

Fletcher. He didn’t get fired for being bad at his job either. He got fired for promising results and not being media friendly. You can’t be “all in” and “bias for action” and still end up out of the playoffs.

Jones and DB are much more media friendly than Fletcher. Who can forget Jones and DB at the airport carrying Michkov’s sticks and looking like the 3 amigos. So relatable and much more available than Fletcher ever was. They also haven’t promised anything so their is really no moment to hold them accountable. By labelling everything as a “rebuild” it doesn’t really matter what they do. Half the fanbase will give them unlimited rope while calling the other half negadelphians for pointing out the inconstancies. It’s only when the entire fanbase unites against them that it’s a problem.

Tocchet. See Torts. Short of dousing himself in gasoline and lighting the match like Torts, it is unlikely that he will be fired as long as he keeps talking about culture and accountability. Even though Tocch left behind a FEMA level disaster in Vancouver he came out smelling like a rose.

The goal here is to be like Mike (Tomlin). Just good enough not get the elite talent you need and just bad enough to never be expected to win a playoff game. As the steelers have shown. Fan bases will wait nearly forever as long as you play enough meaningful regular season games and don’t have the expectations that elite talent brings.

they both will at some point as all coaches and GM’s do

Tony D was productive as a flyer. 40+ points. The assistant GM raved about him until he didnt, then wanted him gone. Briere is a Putz.

The EC is so bad. with the Rangers being the exception, pretty much every team is in the mix.

looking forward to danny boy getting that 4th line center and bottom pair Dman to solidify the cup run.

There was zero need for Noah Juulsen to fight Jack McBain midway through the third period. Actually, it wasn’t so much the fight itself. It was the initial roughing penalty to preceded the fight. Yes, Juulsen was defending Drysdale. However, midway through the third period of a two-goal game is not the time to leave your team shorthanded.
The Juulsen penalty was a must-kill. It wasn’t. Guenther’s power play tally gave Utah life. Before that, the third period was under control. Now Philly was in hang-in mode. They still should have won, 5-3.

The Flyers and their old time hockey mentality.

The lineup decisions were crap as well. Whether you might win an extra game or two in Jan. of a throwaway year is irrelevant. Play Zegras exclusively at center because that’s where you need to know if he can play long term and Michkov at RW because that’s where he needs to be long term. If Brink has to play his off wing than so be it. One of those is face of the future for the franchise and he’s basically been told to eat crap and smile all year from the coach.

I hate the Michkov narrative this FO/coach keeps putting out. I am not as concerned about his point production as his usage and TOI. Let the kid learn from his mistakes and stop trying to put a round peg in a square hole. The issues with Michkov are overblown by the coach. One might say Tocch has a bug up his posterior regarding Michkov. His underlying metrics are some of the best on the team.

ever notice how JJ and Doucher are not very complimentary towards MM unlike last year. What has changed?

only a fn idiot head coach would move MM from right to left wing. All to accommodate brink and tippet. The fact briere seems to be on board with the head coach is telling.

You ever get the feeling that the Flyers would rather build around Hathaway (who plays the right way) instead of Michkov?

    – in a way yes. JJ Doucher and Hartnell just suck his dick every game. I don’t get it. Mind boggling. they fawn over him. I swear they have to be told to talk about him. If not then wow.

    – anyone who thinks tocchet is a good coach is a fucking moron. He will do more damage to this team when all is said and done. He has no answers for anything.

    – Briere is a fucking puppet who has no balls. If he is on board how MM is being handled, then he is worse at his job than I thought. If he doesn’t and is on board, it’s just as bad. I pray they trade him or he asks out.

    – Been saying it for a while Tocchet just doesn’t like MM for some reason. To move him to his off wing to cater to Brink and Tippet is a disgrace.

    – really sad to see a once great franchise now in its current state. There is no way out on the path they continue to take.

    – thinking any players will want to come to play this style of hockey is comical. You will get the GH and seeler types sure. Other than that, no one who will elevate the team.

    – flyers have been bad for so long they still do not have anyone worthwhile to call up to help the Flyers. speaks volumes about their drafting and developing.

    – dumb ass flyers fans continue to spend money on this team is fascinating.

Gave up 7 PP and Ersson with the his 1st game with an above .900 this year and only his 2nd since Dec 3.

2nd best PP% meets the 20th PK% with the 20th PK scoring the SH GWG.

Flyers did win over half of their face offs after only winning 35% the other day.

Despite the win they were still bad in most facets of the game. They were out chanced and outplayed most of the game at 5-5 and the lack of talent showed.

They aren’t going to win many games giving up 7pp and trying to win a 1 goal game.

have some faith. This is well coached team. A very opportunistic team. They are a team I would not want to face in the playoffs. They grind you down then bam, they win the game.

Danny boy needs to add some players to show the vets he has their back.

Even SnowTheGoalie has finally realized what everyone outside of the Flyers front office knows. That the Jett that DB has been selling doesn’t exist. Or maybe Comcast’s check didn’t clear this month.

then you have fat ant still trying to defend it

I wonder if these clowns even realize they are a laughing stock locally and nationally.

Doubtful as they continue to sell the same bullshit.

Can’t wait to see Danny’s next move. My bad it was calling up “Jones’s” pet.

    Quote from Brière:

The Rebuild is Over” (Sept 2025): Brière indicated that the team is moving into a new phase and that the era of being “sellers” at the trade deadline is over, stating it would be a failure if they were in that position again.

    and this one

“But like I said, when you’re not spending $12 million on a player, or even two like Edmonton does… Colorado has three or four high-end guys. We’re not going to be built that way. So depth will be important to us.”

What a great management team the flyer has assembled. there was zero need to sign dvorak when they did. all while his value was at its highest. Guess those wharton classed Danny took dont resonate with him at all.

5 years of another 3rd lie center.

dvorak- cates- ex selke is def a cup contending center group.

Quite the reality check by the Rangers.

    1. First the Rangers tell everyone they are giving up on the season.
    2. Then they follow that up by spanking the Flyers.
    3. Flyers 35% faceoff percentage. Pathetic.

Nothing says well coached team like giving up 30 goals in 5 games while being one of the lowest scoring teams in the league.

It looks like the Flyers are already on the Olympic break and forgot to tell the fans.

    go flyers brick by brick.

from a points % perspective wonder where the flyers sit today.
