not going to be surprised on bit if he is moved or signed. yes stating the obvious.

if moved and another D brought in is just spinning their wheels.

All this Byram talk, is he really that much better than JD? offensively yes. defensively? another guy with a past injury history who wants a long term deal.

Bill would you have rather has zegras or rossi?

really hope they do not rush to sign him to an ext. there is no need as need to see a full year first. if he produces (and not healthy) like he has the last 2 years you need to walk away or sing a 1 year very cheap deal.

hope this doesn’t cloud their judgment on taking hagens if he is there, though briere has loved him for 2 years.

Trades in today’s game have to be looked at from a big picture view point. I’m not a fan of this trade. This trade, while the value in a bubble is a small return, shows the mindset of this team. There will be other dominoes to this movie. They are in the process of improving the team. capping out the team for a team that won’t come close top reaching the level of a legit cup contender. When all is said and done. This will be another in a long line of misguided moves that will only likely result in another “dead period” where the team will go through the cycle of a faux rebuild. Only to enact the same tired and failed strategies over and over again.

no one cares if your a fan of the trade. the mind set on this trade seems to be you roll the dice on a 24 year old,, with skill that is needed, who needs a change scenary to possibly get back to the 60 point plyer he once was. There are risks, ones worth taking. there is no long term commitment. now if they give him an 8 year ext then you can piss and moan all you want.

This is the type of move they should be doing. finding undervalued assets for minimal cost.

Hope the Zegras experiment turns out better than Drysdale has…

even if it doesn’t it was a swing you take al day, as they gave up nothing. They can walk away from zegras if it don’t work out. nothing to complain about on this trade

good trade. low risk potentially high reward….Zegras does have injury concerns. flyers never get a guy with a clean bill of health

Freidman saying flyers get Zegrs for Poehling, 45th this year and 4th next year

I’m kinda digging Uggie’s theory that it is MiB and Meltzer handing out the bans – it’s really the only thing that makes sense.

interesting theory. Ek just sabotaging his site it seems to me. How can he not know what is going on

While I don’t believe his job is in any sort of danger as of right now, does Briere have enough cache to use all 7 picks and kick the can down the road another 3-5 years, especially when this is considered to be a weak draft?

My problem with the scouting department is finding talent that has the hockey IQ to play well at the NHL level. We’ve had a lot of guys over the past decade who are adept at making bad decisions on the ice… and whether it’s a coaching/development issue, or the kid just doesn’t have it between the ears, it’s something that needs to be improved upon (and that goes for players acquired via trade, too).

I wonder how many off seasons he will get. this will be the 3rd with next to no progress so far. this weak draft is what the flyers were promoting as franchise altering!!!!

    coaching/drafting/development all have been issues.

How about Rocky getting the isles AHL head coach job!!! Speaking of which who will be the LHV coach? as seems odd they haven’t named anyone yet

Shabanov would be a low risk potential high/solid reward. What I wonder and I assume the answer is yes, do they guarantee him a spot on the NHL roster?

there is a glut of wingers, volume wise, one would assume they have to move out a few; it will be brink IMO (unless a player is hurt and hasn’t been announced yet…..). Also leaves no room for a Bump or the like if he has an outstanding camp. Which I am ok with.

lest say they use all 7. whats the odds they hit on half?

    how are you defining “hit”?

flhar wasn’t very good in minny and so far doesn’t look to hot here in philly. I have very little faith. what you hope is they don’t fuck it up at #6 as that will once again set them back numerous years.

I have a feeling they will not be taking BPA. They are going to focus on size, despite these players being years away.
