Who Should The Chicago Blackhawks Take With The 3rd Overall Pick?

With this years 2025 NHL Draft looming this weekend, the Chicago Blackhawks face a crucial choice. Whom should they take with the 3rd overall pick?

The Blackhawks are still a couple years away from making that jump to a wildcard spot, it is important to get a future young player that will be ready to help this already stacked under-23 core. There are many ways and options you can go with this pick, take the Swedish stud Anton Frondell who is already playing against men, or you can go with Porter Martone, a 6-foot-3 playmaking winger. But for many Blackhawks fans they are hoping OHL superstar Michael Misa drops to the 3rd overall pick.

Michael Misa – Saginaw Spirit C/LW

Michael Misa is a terrific player who absolutely exploded this year in the OHL posting 62 goals, 72 assist for 134 points in 65 games. Misa has been high on many draft boards since he stepped into the OHL with exceptional status, but at the start of year he found himself on many draft boards outside of the top 3 and even sometimes out of the top 5. But since the start of the year it has been pretty consensus that he will go in the top 2 till about the start of this week. There has been rumors and smoke are the Sharks General Manager Mike Grier and his staff having Anton Frondell right with Misa. This is setting up to. be a very interesting draft and many are excited to see how it plays out on June 27th.

Porter Martone — Brampton RW

Huge-framed and highly skilled, Martone is an excellent setup guy who can also finish. He’s already played on Team Canada’s men’s team. Martone has soft hands and a nose for finding the seams in the defense. There are questions about his skating ability but he gets from Point A to Point B. His NHL niche is clear: scoring winger. He will have to show he can play successfully at the NHL pace.

Anton Frondell – Djurgården C

Frondell is one of the many Swedish studs that have been becoming out of Sweden lately. As he is currently playing against men in the 2nd league he posted a stat line of 11 goals, 14 assist for 25 points in 29 games. Frondell stands at 6 foot 2 and plays a heavy 200 ft game. On the offensive side he has a booming shot with one of if not the best shots in the entire draft class. Anton struggled a bit against his peers this year which damaged his draft stock.
