Reports: Flyers not on Larkin’s short list
According a Detroit Free Press report, veteran center Dylan Larkin requested a trade to one of three teams: the Minnesota Wild, Las Vegas Golden Knights or the Florida Panthers.
Larkin, who has a full no-trade clause, is in control of his acceptable destinations even though he’s the one who reportedly requested a trade in the first place.
What it means in reality: the Red Wings are compelled to try to work something out with one of the three teams on Larkin’s list. If there is no deal acceptable to the Red Wings from one of those teams, there are a few potential scenarios from there.
- The Red Wings ask Larkin if he’s willing to expand upon his list. An increased number of offers can also increase the chances of Detroit getting what it wants from one of the teams on Larkin’s original list.
- Detroit does not ask Larkin to add to his list. Instead, Steve Yzerman still fields offers from non-listed teams. (He’s within his rights to do so). On the back end, the Wings go to Larkin and ask the player if he’d waive for the other club. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn’t. For example, the (thankfully) Flyers failed trade to send Travis Sanheim to St. Louis for Torey Krug fell apart because Krug refused to waive his no-trade clause on the back end of the process.
- If unwilling to waive for another team and Detroit doesn’t like the offered from Minnesota, Vegas or Florida, Larkin could withdraw the trade request. That would create an awkward situation, especially because Larkin is the

Prospect Watch: Flyers Development Camp
The 2026 edition of the Flyers Development camp is slated to run from Jun 29 until July 3. As with past years, camp will conclude with a 3-on-3 scrimmage.
The list of attendees with be finalized after the NHL Draft. However, it is believed that 2025 first-round pick Porter Martone, who still qualifies as an NHL rookie, will attend the camp. Martone will turn 20 on October 26.
We will post more information when available.

Potential Flyers trade target: Brady Tkachuk
The sourcing on this one is much less reliable that the Dylan Larkin reports that emerged late last week. Nevertheless, there is yet another round of Brady Tkachuk rumors out there. A few months ago, Tkachuk explicitly denied seeking a trade from the Ottawa Senators.
Nevertheless, in the wake of Larkin’s highly selective trade request, Tkachuk’s name is out there again. It’s more speculative than anything else. Tkachuk, in fact, has not formally requested a trade up to this point.
Of course, that will do nothing to stop the Silly Season effect from running rampant.
I will reiterate what I said to Jason Myrtetus a year ago.If Tkachuk were to, in fact, become available, I’d certainly think the Flyers would have interest. However, I also think the price tag would start beyond what the Flyers would consider a realistic starting point. For example, a demand for Porter Martone AND the Toronto first-round pick in 2027 would be a total non-starter for Daniel Briere. Meanwhile, it’d be exactly the type of “blow us away and we can talk” starting point Ottawa would have in mind.
Scenarios such as these are why I don’t put much stock in off-season rumor about teams “being willing to listen” to offers about this or that nucleus player. “Not totally untouchable” and realistically available are two very different things.

Flyers Daily: Mondays with Meltzer
Dylan Larkin’s reported trade request — the potential price tag, alternative options, etc. — dominates much of my discussion with Jason Myrtetus in this week’s Monday with Meltzer. We also discuss the wild Stanley Cup Final between the Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights through the first three games. Shifting gears, we discuss the rumored five-year extension for Dan Vladar and other topics. The episode runs nearly 45 minutes.

Team Toyota Draft Spotlight: Caleb Malhotra

In Thursday’s Team Toyota Draft Spotlight, we have looked at USHL center Jack Hextall, BU center Tynan Lawrence, Swedish blueliner Malte Gustafsson. and QMJHL center/winger Maddox Dagenais of the Quebec Remparts.
Today, it’s Caleb Malhotra, an incoming freshman center for Boston University. He spent the 2025-26 season in the Ontario Hockey League with the Brantford Bulldogs.
Let’s cut to the chase up front. A couple of outlier ranking have Malhotra in the middle of the first round range (15th in the Hockey News, 20th at Dobber Prospects). Most have him comfortably in the top 10. Most years, there’s a surprise or two with a player going well above or below his consensus ranking.
However, Malhotra is unlikely to be one who falls. This year’s Draft is thin in projected top-six caliber centers. Malhotra is one if he approaches his offensive ceiling. If he falls a bit short of that, Malhotra is still a fairly safe bet to emerge as a third-line center.
High floor. Two-way game. Decent size. Good skater. That usually adds up to a prospect picked fairly high in the first round.
