ParticipantAndrae porjected around 2mil, which is fine. Ersson may not be qualified or be depth cheap who cares.
still 3mil to put to better use.Chayka drafting 6-8 years ago is not really important in 2026, he just needs to put the right people in place. thats very much up in the air still
It absolutely is important because that’s his track record. His track record was shit and should have disqualified him from being GM. At best, he’s an assistant GM given his failure in Phoenix.
But again, like Shanahan lorded over Dubas, Chayka is probably the bitch to Sundin because Sundin is calling the shots despite having zero experience and away from the game for 17+ years.
The right people working for the Leafs is a tall order that usually goes unfilled.

Participantits not always about the size, Jackson Blake and Stankoven are the same.
but swapping pylon Benoit for a puck mover makes sense. he is a 5/6, thats fine.and I like Simon Benoit but he is a net negative on the ice.
this should be a win for the rebuild crowd, get another pick in 2026
Again, bottom pair small D don’t usually work out as well as forwards because of the punishment D-men have to absorb and dish out in the playoffs. Being physically small in the NHL is far more of a negative than it ever is a positive.
A 3rd doesn’t move the needle for a rebuild. It’s a shot in the dark with Chayka’s shit draft record. They need to pile up 1st round picks for any kind of rebuild to occur.
They are also both RFAs so the “cap space” idea is out the window if these guys eat up most of the money that went out the door. And it’s doubtful they just let them walk either.

ParticipantHill still has 5 years left @6.25M cap hit.
what was the deal with Hill not playing?
Does he need to call Williams Mattar? He was hurt for half the year and sucked the other half. Torts probably got fired today because he refused to switch Hart for Hill in the Final but Hill’s numbers last year were bad.
It’s a huge contract that Vegas needs to dump so while the 1st wouldn’t be for a while, they could always try to move other pieces that are as valuable as a 1st without giving up a 1st.

ParticipantEmil Andrae on ice goals were 36-22 (62%)
high danger 177-155 (53%)good bottom pair sheltered results.
its the size or he would be in high demand.imo the Trade is basically Woll for Emil Andrae and a 3rd the rest cancels out

ParticipantHutson is 5β9β³ and he did well the this yearβs playoff run with the Habs.
That only works in extremely rare circumstances. You can probably count on one hand how many 5’9″ D-men there are in the NHL and there is a very good reason for that. Hutson is only effective because he’s an offensive wizard. He makes a lot of defensive mistakes too but his offensive game usually makes up for it. But as a bottom pair D, being 5’9″ is a gift to the opposition when the games get tough.
