ParticipantHearing on Sekeres and Price that there has been a report that Canucks in fact did have a conversation with DeBrusk in the last day or two about being traded.
I think there is a good chance he gets traded tonight. Maybe tomorrow…

ParticipantStarted a new thread to much effort to find latest posts.
Thinking Reid is going 3oa. Ne quite ok if a few others but a RHD with great mobility never a bad pick.
Just click page 1 and new post should be at the top…

ParticipantI think it’s gonna be Chase Reid, and to be honest, considering the poor state of the defense within the organization, it’ll be a fine pick.
Top pairing, right shot, one of only a couple with that kind of skating ability, 1st PP quarterback, 6’3″…
I know people are sour on US players right now. I’m cautious myself but Quinn Hughes leaving wasn’t simply because he wanted to play in the USA. The state of the team was the big thing with him and then there was speculation he wanted to play with his brothers but I’m not sure that was the case. Reid is already playing in Canada… it’s a good sign at least.

ParticipantNemec for Calgary’s ‘27 1st 28 1st 26 2nd
Eklund Halttunen Svoboda for 9oa
Kyrou for McMichael/Gastrin/‘26 16oaIt’s heating up are the Canucks in on the action?
The dreaded NMC a big hinderance. We’ll see in this sellers market if soon or the TDL.
RJ says he hasn’t had any discussions with his players on whether they are willing to waive for the right destination.

ParticipantI think it would be a mistake to sit pat *if* you can move a couple of vets this summer. Here’s my reasoning….
This summer is a serious sellers market. This is related mostly to a couple of things. Cap going up and a generational poor UFA market. This market will mostly happen during the summer and to be more accurate, from now to mid July. Canucks are legit sellers right now. Sellers sitting pat during a hot seller’s market is not wise.
I hear people saying wait to make trades because the draft is weak. You can still make trades for next years draft. No rules against that. So my common sense says make the trades during the hot seller’s market and get picks in next years draft if you can. My whole point is take advantage of this current opportunity. Canucks have a poor record of trying to execute their plans at the TDL. It could easily end up being another kick in the balls with the market or said players being injured or not wanting to move mid season as we’ve also seen in the past. Of course they can trade before the TDL, but same problems pretty much.
The Canucks need to make room on the roster. As it is right now, this is the roster that they finished the season with. A couple of free agents are leaving but they will need more roster spots for prospects and any cheap character type free agents they might add. They will need room for both.
If they start the season with the same roster they had in April… it will be hard to convince me that they are going full rebuild.

ParticipantDo the Canucks take advantage of this opportunity with all the trade action or do they let it slip by in the name of “being patient”?
Time for these guys to get off their ass and do something.

ParticipantI agree. This has the Leafs trapping themselves written all over it. Desperate for a Dman…

ParticipantLatest rumor on Debrusk is to Columbus for the 14th oa. That’s a pipe dream but if the Canucks were to add, maybe there’s a way. Would Debrusk and the 33rd get it done? I think Debrusk and the 24rth oa would but that’s too much imo.

ParticipantI say just draft talent, high ceiling talent, it’s not like this is gonna be the only draft near the bottom in the next few years.
I agree. It’s a top 3 pick. If you have an eye on character, don’t reach back for it from top 3. Trade down. But honestly, you have a shot on some high end talent sure to be an impact player, go for it. Otherwise how stupid does tanking look when you get into the top 3 and then take someone ranked 5/6/7 or later who has more red flags than others in his tier…
