Minnesota Wild dropping huge cash AND term on a 28 year old who will be 37 when his 17M per year contract ends and who has never scored 50 goals in a single season is a pretty ballsy move for sure.

Mc Jesus will get 18M per year or more now guaranteed.

Ah yes, the Jays are leafing it.
    Choking when it counts

As much as in SOME of the games the umpiring has been atrocious (Springer got jobbed on back to back calls the other night and that for sure double probably would have been a huge momentum swing in that game and MAYBE resulted in a different outcome) the Jays have just been terrible at the plate and the pitching hasn’t been able to deliver either. Vladdy is ice cold, same with Kirk etc. They miss Bo’s bat big time but even that may not have been enough to prevent this slide they are in.

Kirk getting gunned out for the final out at 1st from left field was just the icing on the cake last night – so brutal.

Yankee’s getting hot (or Chicago being terrible) hasn’t helped and the Yanks have Baltimore to end the season – wild card spot for the Jays if a very possible / likely scenario.

Could be a pretty short post season sadly. 🙁

It’s just AHL caliber hockey. It means nothing, but a way to make extra money for the teams. It’s gotten to the point that preseason is just boring to watch and the regular season, with the exception of a few divisional tilts are also meh. Playoffs is where it’s at.[/quote] – Prince

It’s generally AHL vs quasi NHL rosters so there can be some take aways but your right it’s predominately about revenue.

I mean yesterday in Ottawa the Sens had both their NHL goalies in for at least half the game in Sogard & Ullmark and they had Giroux, Apple Strudle, Chabot, Tkachuk, Peron, Ridely Greig, Batherson, Nick Cousins so basically an NHL Line up.

The Leafs had 2 non NHL goalies in Peska and Akhtyamov and the most talent they had from a scoring or NHL regular perspective was Robertson, Yark-crock, Kampf and Cowen.

It really was the Marlies vs the Sens IMO.

Like I said it will be the reverse in Toronto tomorrow and the Sens will win & this game will mean nothing and that game will mean the Leafs are terrible and the Sens are going to win the cup. lol

And the leafs win game 1 ????

Was nice to see the Leafs B squad beat the Sens A squad. I’m sure the reverse will happen in Toronto and every Sens troll will be yapping about it like they won the cup. Lol

Marner’s former security guy is apparently going off on social media at anyone who has anyone negative to say about Mitch. lol

Sounds like it’s not the first time either as Steve Dangle (love him or hate him – yes many hate him) has revealed an alleged message he got back in 2021 from this same security guard.

I’m just laughing at the whole thing at this point but can’t figure out why Marner keeps agreeing to do interviews and talk about this stuff if he really wants to move on perhaps moving on from the divorce tour where he wants to paint Toronto and it’s fan base and media as the worst and why he’s gone. If he (his camp) were smart they would have stuck to the boring old “it was time to try something / somewhere new” thing and left it at that until it calmed down but they are going in the opposite direction and IMO all they are doing is tarnishing Marner’s reputation and legacy as a Leaf.

This is the link to Dangle telling the story of the message he got allegedly from Marner’s head of security (hoping it works):

Just read an article about the Habs and how they are currently 6M over the cap and will be trading Carey Price’s contract to San Jose to free up cap space. Nice to read about a team in ‘cap hell’ that isn’t the Leafs lol.

Article posted below as every time I try to insert it into a post here it doesn’t seem to work.

But, not really cap hell if they are trading the contract away and getting out from under it.
Hoping it cost them a pretty penny.

The article said it may cost them a 1st round pick, guess we will see but for now (until they trade the contract) they are in CAP HELL!!!!!!

You can’t take that away from me. lol

    Wedgie, re: tickets

While this may be true, part of the issue is that there are so many on-line ticket re-sellers I have no idea which ones are legit or not.
Plus, if I wait until that time, I won’t make it to the game on time. Not everyone is a few subway stops away ????

Are scalpers around the arena even a thing? If they are, that is a whole nother problem. I have zero desire to interact with them.

Unless you know the person you are buying from (say a friend or a friend has vouched for the person) I think the only online re-seller route to be completely safe is to use Ticketmaster. Unfortunately they take a bite from the resale so sellers have to mark up a bit if they want to lose less but at least your protected and can buy with no worries.

Edit – HOLY BIG EMOJI IN THE REPLY WITH QUOTE! lol

Also to those who can’t help themselves and have to make sure they insert some political narrative into their reply to show everyone how smart they are kindly take that bullshit somewhere else. This comment is directed at both the people who think they need to comment about the right and the left by the way, I have zero interest in reading any of it on a hockey site.

Nobody cares Rob. Just your ultra sensitive self. Scroll on by like a man, or go dye your hair purple you snowflake.

Are you that desperate for attention that you need to try to bait me into a back and forth with you?
Jesus AA you really are a sad little man.

I also assume you fail to see the irony in telling me to scroll on by ‘like a man’ when you can’t even do so yourself and feel the need to then tell me to go dye my hair purple like a snowflake?

Every time I think you can’t get any dumber you prove me wrong, congrats on that.

Ticket prices are insane, I think I may just use the $ I usually use to hit some Leafs games and go to some jays playoff games or maybe go see the Leafs on the road.

    Sigh.

I demonstrated a dozen times last year that ticket prices are not what people think – the premium markups for games on the secondary market died during COVID.

Any game Monday to Wednesday, as long as it isn’t the Habs, you can purchase tix for below what the season ticket holder bought them for. Just wait until 5:30 pm.

Upper bowls for $100 or less. Lower for $250 or less.

Much cheaper than gas/airfare and hotel at any away game.

We all love you for it Wedgie but what you demonstrated is the secondary market value on game day and not the actual ticket prices that MLSE sells the seats for – those bastards NEVER drop their prices even on game day. It’s great if you live or work in Toronto and can just grab tickets an hour or 2 before the game and if the prices don’t drop to what you want to spend just stick around at the Keg and continue to fill up (see I remembner what you wrote you clever MF! lol) but sadly not everyone can.

The issue for many is they need to plan to attend a Leaf game well enough in advance for kiddos or just travel because the have a long ass drive or train ride home post game etc. so they need to get tickets and plan the game day/next day to fit.

I’ve never flown anywhere to go to a game but I’ve driven to quite a few places to see a Leaf road game and it’s a nice bonus to get to visit a new city. I’ve been to (in no particular order) Montreal (Forum and Bell Centre), Ottawa, Dallas, Pittsburgh (Igloo and PGP Centre), Buffalo and Nashville to see the Leafs and hope to add more places over the years. I’ve seen a game in Detroit (at the Joe) and Winnipeg just not the Leafs.

I mean Toronto was one of the most expensive places to see a game already so I guess it is what it is but can you imagine a world where you didn’t have to sit and take advantage of the happy hour specials at the KEG to see if you can get tickets for what you want to pay? lol
