I seem to recall this when it occurred, the still looks bad, but the video isnt as bad cause I think he gets involved either earlier or later.

The Jays are fun to watch now a days for sure and they seem to be having fun and gelling (funny how winning will do that) in a way I haven’t seen since probably 2015 or so. I hope they can ride this hot streak and not cool off too much and get some guys (like Varsho and Santy) back and keep this up.

Reading some pretty interesting opinions and takes on here today which is a nice change from the non-stop whining about the Leafs and Marner’s divorce from one person.
IMO saying the state tax (the lack thereof) isn’t a big advantage might be partially right it may not be HUGE but I don’t see how you can deny it being an advantage. If you look back at say the past few years one of the teams from these states has won or been in the finals so (again IMO) that extra cap space has allowed them to perhaps bring in more impactful players in the off season and TDL. And yes, some of them have been masters at using LTIR to assist in this regard and now it seems the Panthers have developed the ‘take less to keep the band together’ culture which is a huge advantage for them. I have said it before but they are more and more like the Bruins were when we all just shook our heads at guys going or staying there for less (except Florida has 2 cups now).
Lots of online discussion everywhere about the cap and players wanting to play in Florida now because they are good. I also see a lot of Panthers fans immediate response to anyone who dares mention the tax break or LTIR games be “Florida is just better run than other teams, nobody was coming here when we sucked”.
Yes they have a GM who has made some great moves, who also has benefitted from the tax break (and culture now because the GM can’t be the hero for guys like Bennett and Marchand taking less to stay – the players did that) and yes no stars wanted to play there when they sucked. Minus being insanely overpaid at the time as Monkey pointed out they did with BOB.
Question – have the Florida Panthers spent to the cap ceiling every year since the cap was introduced? I mean it’s easy to say you sucked because no star players wanted to play there but if you weren’t spending to the max maybe it was that? I thought I would be able to easily find the answer to which teams spent to the cap ceiling vs floor year by year but my google-fu failed me today.
Oh and last thing – someone (sorry don’t recall who) was saying Bettman must go due to one of the many things we all hate about how this league works. One important thing to remember is he is essentially just the face and voice of the board of governors and has very little individual power with the types of things we hate (i.e. taxes differing team to team due to location).
Big changes like addressing that type of issue go to the BOG and they vote and then send the weasel out to be the face and voice of the BOG decision. Don’t get me wrong Bettman is a weasel and I hate his stupid smirking face but he doesn’t really make a lot of the decisions we hate.
If you want to blame anyone blame the BOG and the most powerful person on that board – Jeremy Jacobs of the Boston Bruins who is the chairman of the board & owner of the Bruins.
I’m having major issues on my mobile device regardless of which browser I use.
It simply won’t let me log in at all but no issues doing so on my laptop.
This is fairly recent (last 2 weeks or so), before it would log in but log me out if I clicked a link at all to any forum, thread etc. but if I refreshed the page when logged out it would then show me as logged in.
Now I just can’t even log in.
