It was nice to see Rinzel look like the best player on the ice last night. I’m really looking forward to see how he handles a full NHL season. This kid looks like a star to be in the NHL.

I saw the old Drew Doughty, the one who killed us in the 2014 Conf Finals the first time I saw tape of Rinzel.

I think if Reichel could learn how to backcheck with his speed, he would make himself more valuable to this team. It is a make or break year for him.

Reichel has to be in board battles and win them. Go into the corner, behind the net get a few wrap arounds or come out with the puck and feed guys in the slot and in front of the net. He’s tall but light.

I’m including this year, i think he would of beena RFA after this season?

All this going on and wyatt Kaiser, crickets

He should have waited a decent year and he’s over $6M.

Mostly agree with you Ricochet. Buium reminds me of Dougie Hamilton. Lots or PP points, but really a #5 defenseman. Demidov will be flashy and put up points. Unfortunately, I don’t see any resemblance to Datsyuk other than he’s Russian. Will be a defensive liability as he’s already shown. Lev will end up a #1 RHD against the strongest opponents within the next 2 years, and putting up points. Kind of a Seabrook+. 3 years away from a top 3 for the Norris.

Demidov doesn’t strike me as a 2 way player. All Lev has to do is be as good as Viktor Hedman. I’m finding my posts go through better on phone than laptop.

    Mr.R
So the site is acting up. I’m trying to post:
He (Knight) did get pissed at our defense a few times last year. But I still think he showed he’s the best goalie we have. His mental state is Waite’s job along with our “mental performance coaches.”

This site still has some cracks in it, posted a reply and it disappeared

Did you look behind the dryer? I find everything there.

I would not sign Knight early, goalies are a fickle group. I would just let the season play out and see how he handles himself over the course of the year.

I actually believe Knight is better than Wolf but most likely won’t be statistically for a couple more years until the defense around him gets better with more experience.

We pretty much know his floor. The defense is going to take a couple years as you say. Locking Knight up early is to our advantage and also sends a message we’re all in keeping young core guys. As I said, I think he’s in a unique situation where shorter term makes more sense to him. Something like 4x$6.75.

    re: Laurent Brossoit

Other than idle speculation about trading him, has anyone read *any actual info*
about his health status going into training camp?

This info has been locked down forever, it seems.

Does Brossoit have red hair? Is he someone’s step-child? The Hawks have had him hidden in the basement since he got injured. Talk about keeping a tight lid on things.

Best case scenario is he starts the season healthy, gets a few games in and does decently (Hawks would have to keep all three goalies on the roster), and someone else’s goalie or backup wets the bed or gets injured making him trade fodder. Chances of all three happening are slim and none.

If all three goalies, four if you count Commesso are still around at the start of the season I see a revolving IR door until KD unloads Soderblom or Brossoit.

    1) The Wild won’t let him walk for nothing. Chicago or whomever will have to pay an arm and both legs in any trade deal. Probably have to include 2 or 3 of our upcoming studs plus some draft picks.

Kiprisov has a NMC so if he doesn’t sign soon Minny might need to take back what the Leafs got for Marner if they can prove meddling, otherwise he can to a Tavares/Sundin.

They could have an AHLer take a run at him in camp and show him the error of his ways.

I was trying to respond about the Kurvers tournament that Oliver Moore is a very key player. Also, I think KD will try to sign Knight sooner rather than later. But I look for shorter term, 4 years.

Hmm, my quote posts don’t show up, anyone else have that issue? I see posts from others that are quotes, not sure what i’m doing wrong.

Seems to be happening to me. Perhaps there’s a lag?

Anyone read about the new CBA rule starting this season where teams will be allotted one spot in the AHL for a 19-year-old? Assuming the Hawks choices are essentially Vanacker or Spellacy if they decide to move one or the other up to AHL as they’re the only prospects that have signed their ELC that’d be worthy of the spot. Thoughts?

If it’s me, I’d move Spellacy up to AHL. Not sure how much more he’ll learn in the OHL and his ceiling/floor are a lot lower than Vanacker. I’d keep Vanacker in Brantford so he can get a full season of being the man with Lardis and O’Brien moving on and so he gets in a healthy season to gain confidence prior to moving up to AHL. He’s destined to be a crowd favorite when he hits the show but for now, let’s develop him properly.

18 year olds are still screwed or if they turn 19 during the season it’s ok?

Heard Notre Dame is now actively recruiting him after Sunday’s debacle.
