Lets see if the Leafs respond to Berube after he called in the Leafs Leadership group into his office for a private meeting.

Horrible trade. Hated it then and still do.

Tre doesnt seem to be too great at deadline deals.
Hopefully, he doesnt move any more picks or young players this year. Just sit tight or move out vets for picks/prospects.

Id still prefer this leafs team finish in the bottom 5 to push our 1st out another year.[/quote]
I’m on the opposite side of this. You are moving the issue to a later date.
finish as high you can in the standing. You win the draft lotto, then you keep it.
    retool.

That trade is not looking good for Leafs as Carlo has not been that good.

Rielly isn’t going anywhere. Period. 3 letters why- NMC!
I don’t see him waiving it anytime soon.

If the Leafs do, by some miracle, fire Treliving and/or come to their senses about their inability to compete for a Stanley Cup this year, the prime candidates to be traded are: Laughton, Carlo, Maccelli, McMann, Jarnkrok, Roy and Stecher.

Between those 7 guys, the Leafs could bring in a lot of draft capital. Laughton, Carlo, McMann and Roy could be in the 1st round pick conversation. Maccelli and Stecher could bring in a 2nd each. Jarnkrok could be a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Having sven more draft picks might not do anything for them this year or next year but if they have the right scouts, that could pay dividends in the future.

From a “value” perspective, having that influx of draft capital could probably help the Leafs land an impact player if they flipped it all for a top-six forward or top-four D.

Either way, the names listed above should all be traded by the deadline.

For me, I would hang on to Laughton unless he wants too much $$$ on his next contract.
You might not get what the Leafs paid to acquire him.

I think that this team as it sits is unfixable and needs major surgery. Looking at how many top end teams handle the Leafs, they aren’t winning anything this year. Better to divest for draft picks and retool through free agency. Just need to get in the bottom 5 in the draft and move those lost picks 1 year forward. Just let it crash and be done with it. See if Pelly has the guts to completely gut this team and bring in a whole new management team, or is it just more lip service. Empty seats will speak his language.

I don’t think this is an option. IMO better to just miss the playoffs and have a mid-teen pick going to Boston.
Unless they win the draft lottery.
