AGAIN…everything well perfectly for the leafs to win the division last year.
The opposite has happened this year.
The players who have replaced marner, combined have more point than he does so far this year. He probably gives the leafs 1 …maybe 2 more wins…maybe. Cause they would have less depth.They would still be out of the playoffs.

The leafs havent been good at winning trades lately.In a somewhat perfect world, you shut down matthews and nylander for most of the rest of the season. Sell what you can and play ahl’ers and hope to get into the top 5 of draft….and not fall out during the lottery ball show. Or finish in top 10 draft and fall into the top 5. Leafs need some luck. Which has never been on the leafs side.
I sincerely mean it, time to blow this roster up and build it up in another way. I’ll always cheer for them to win every game, I’m a leafs fan, but this current team is a mess, I can say it.

This was always going to be a transition year, somehow Tre didnt see that coming (I get we’ve had a lot of injuries) but this was an unknown year with all the changes that were going to happen.I cant stress enough, even though Ive said it for years. You cant go “all in” year after year without having any success. You just cant.
Looks like once again, the leafs will be helping to make the Bruins a quality team.They never learn.
Honestly, just because the leafs gave up a 1st + for laughton and a 1st plus a great prospect for Carlo doesnt mean other teams are dumb enough to give 1st rounders + for any player outside of Matthews, JT, Willie, woll, Knies, Mcabb etc…which they wont be selling. I cant see any player the leafs will be trading fetching a 1st unfortunately, this is Tre we are talking about. Not a very good GM at trading.
I hope Im wrong and by some miracle they get a 1st for OEL or anyone….but its the leafs, its Tre….I dont have high hopes for either to clean up at the deadline.I would keep 3 goalies for now, we honestly dont know who to rely on long term at this point.

FFS, this team is already back here after winning nothing, worst part is they traded away their 1st. Ive said for years, quick trading away 1st rounders.
Tre better sell what he can, he wont get much as teams know the leafs are desperate.
As I have said for many years, you cannot be “all in” every single year for 5- 7 consecutive years (unless you have success, which the leafs never did). You need a retool year to draft and fill the cupboards with prospects and picks. The leafs never did that…they wasted draft capital and assets yearly.
