Need to give to get. Who of quality is even available. They will probably get some 6’4 slug to fit the flyers profile. Then hype him up to an extent.
The defense is downright putrid. Now that York is hurt it will be that much worse. In no order. That is ugly as sin.

Zamula – ginningGinning is playing the best of the bottom end D. I can see him paired with Sanheim and then Zamula and Juulsen. The Flyers D is not great healthy. They need another Top 4 guy, which I’ve been saying is a big need since before free agency over the summer.
Three wins in PS, none in regulation, all in shootouts. Gilbert gets waived, roster is set. Grebenkin, Abols, Luchanko, Juulsen, Ginning make the roster. We’ll see how it goes.
It appears the short-term strategy is to hope somehow the team save % can get above .900. I am not very optimistic this will happen. They are still much closer to a top 5 pick then a playoff spot. Frankly, until this current regime can show the ability to get consistent goaltending, all the other aspects to building the roster will not matter. Briere cannot just point to and look at Zavragin will be really good when gets here. Looks like Dilly’s last hope to save his job will be if Vladar can post a career best save % this season. Boosh will have to word salad a ridiculous amount of times this season to avoid using the term “soft goal” this season.
Vladar has looked pretty decent, not sure how many games he can maintain that. Ersson just is not getting the job done although he did make a few nice saves last night.
It’s crazy how much the narrative in the media has changed around Jett in the last 24 hours. It’s almost like Comcast PR sent a memo to everyone.
Could also be bloggers are just running out of things to write about. There’s one odd man out and who that is is completely dependent on carrying 7 or 8 Dmen. If they carry 7, Jett has already made the team. Learn to love it.
I don’t think carrying 8 dmen is ever a great look for a team. It sends the message that you don’t have enough quality forwards to dress and for a team in year 3 of a rebuild that should be showcasing young forward talent, it sends the message you have failed in your job. I don’t think you will see the Blackhawks carrying 8 defensemen when they finalize their roster.
I was surprised by this, but carrying 8 Dmen is actually fairly common. 10 teams started the season that way last year including the Leafs, Caps, Colorado and Vegas. Tell me how those teams are failures. All of them made the playoffs last year and three of them have won cups within the last few years.

Now I don’t recall the Flyers ever doing it. Maybe that’s why the possibility caught so many, including me, by surprise. I also don’t think an 8D roster best fits the current talent, or lack thereof, on the team. D is a problem, Ersson is a problem, situational awareness is a problem. One Flyer strength looks to be stealing points in a shootout. To me that means locking things down late in tie games, drag the other team into the shootout and steal a point there.

Hahaha, that’s an option. Playing alongside junior slugs on a bad team in Guelph is always an option.
The jett shouldn’t be a want and he def isn’t a need. Who said it was a negative? Still funny though he can’t outshine a 30 year old borderline nhl player no? hence no reason to even contemplate him on the nhl roster. 8 game look is a waste and meaningless if that is what they do.

hope the jett makes it. plays in all the games. never develops offensively. then in 4 years still see flyers fans defend this organization.
said from the beginning he would be the 4th line center. he has outplayed the jett for the role they need him to play. or do you disagree.
Abols has absolutely outplayed Jett. He raised his game significantly with some targeted skating work. Great! Like I said, Jett is a want on the roster, not a need. He was at least a likely need going in. Abols has been the most pleasant surprise of camp. Not sure how that is a negative on Jett. Ginning then Grebenkin would be right behind Abols.
Here you go. A pro-Jett article that advocates him making the the opening night roster in 2025. I almost expected FlyerFrank’s name in the byline.
His main argument is in the opening line : Jett Luchanko started last season in the NHL, and there’s no reason that he shouldn’t do the same this year.
Hahahaha! The Flyers went into camp with a center spot up for grabs: Abols and Luchanko were the main contenders. Abols, at 29, decided to really work on his skating before camp and looks like a different player. Who saw that coming? Anybody? So the Flyers still like Jett. At this point, he’s more of a want than a need, due to Abols, but the Flyers clearly want him. I see a guy with noticeable speed who plays soundly and responsibly. He passes when he has shooting opportunities? Gee, that’s never happened before with any player. Seems to me the Flyers think whatever shortcomings are in his game now can be coached through in the short term. Jett’s getting at least the 8 game look.
