Idk how MM will approach the lines this season but imo DeBrusk is in the way til traded. I assume Cootes will have another good camp but should go to Abby to develop more & try to dominate. Time to feature prospects is for injury call ups or late in the season. Raty Leki Ohgren & Kudryatsev should get the opportunity to play a lot. Mancini is in the make or break category. He has to play smarter to take it to next level. For reasons of line dynamics & chemistry & opportunity my lines go something like this.

    DOC EP40 Karlsson
    Ohgren Rossi Boeser
    DeBrusk Chytil Leki
    Cotter Raty Gallagher
    Sasson

    Buium Hronek
    Oleksiak Willander
    DPetey Schenn
    Kudryatsev

    Demko
    Lankinen
    Tolopilo

Once or if Demko injured Mancini called up. Platoon the bottom 4 D til one stands out. Move Leki DOC Cotter up & down the line up. Sasson only the 13th F but Gallagher will get maintenance days. The PK options look horrible but will help the tank. I expect a fast North South system & aggressive forecheck. D zone exits going to be a big challenge again.

Canucks have had the worst management and ownership for over a decade now.Even dating back to Gillis. Even though he took them to game 7 he collapsed the future. His drafting was terrible, he left the shelves empty, he handcuffed the team with full NTCs and NMCs

Time to admits this team aside from a few bright moments have been a train wreck and the ownership through it’s entire existence has stunk.

Maybe a reset and going back to square one with the Sedins and RJ will change things but with an owner that pays its GM less than a JapaDog cart vendor I am not really expecting much. I think FA is just putting lipstick on a pig.

GMMG advised a retool or a rebuild fired for it. Of course cupboard was bear from cup runs like most teams do. Naslund injured by a dirty hy by Moore hurt. Best line in hockey then. His drafting overall was probably the worst in team history. Since then it’s all on FA & every regime he has hired. Fired TL over rebuilding properly. TL hiring JB was a domino that set the team back a decade plus. JR/PA regime did ok on draft capital & UFA’s.

Canucks on record claiming they had their first four picks in the draft ranked top 24. I’m surprised they had Rodowski and Olsen ranked 24 or higher.

We have a grading standard now at least. I guess we can see why they were patting themselves on the back that much. In their minds, they just picked four 1st rounders with their first 4 picks.

Another thing that was very obvious in the recent “Behind The Scenes” vid from their draft was they had Stenberg top 2. That feeds my curiosity. I really wanted to know where they were on this. Was wondering if they would have taken Caleb at 2.

Caleb is a safe pick when D wasn’t prioritized. At 2 I doubt it or shit would hit the fan lol. I liked the 4 picks how about you?

I’m not sure the recent era of this franchise would know how to function without an underachieving and vastly overpaid Swede crapping all over the pay scale.

    OEL
    MP
    LE
    Hoglander

    Missing anyone?

You’re 2 years too late. Lol

The more likely scenario I see going down is waiting on an offer that really gets RJ’s attention. Probably up to a month before the TDL when teams are positioning for a PO push or fill a hole due to injury. The cap hit more easily absorbed. The NMC is the hurdle now the cap hit cinches it not traded anytime soon. Any potential suitor will want a long runway for their pro scouts to assess EP40’s commitment in question.

We are in the era of assets accumulation never can have enough. Habs are a great team to copy. SJ has some scary good draftees.

Team identity wise I like the Canes & Habs. Size wise VGK & TB & Washington. Speed & heart & top mgmt building the culture. Abby be the proving grounds & beginning for prospects to hit the NHL at full speed. MM installing systems. Players in top condition & strength going through walls for each other.

    Some wishful thinking…

EP40 has a better start to the season as if that isn’t much to ask for & is moved sooner or later. Future leaves the Canucks with CM & Rossi as top 2C’s maybe one is a poor mans 1C. Cootes 3C Raty as 4C. Rogowski & others to make noise if they develop & push for a C spot. Moving onto wingers therexare more questions than answers. DeBrusk wants out that’s fine. Boeser aging out by the time the boyz can compete for real. Novotny could be a gem. Karlsson more a mid 6 winger if enough depth is realistic. Leki entering the make or break window. Ohgren imo will be a good top 6 3rd wheel. Good reason for optimism on D.

Still need more elite talent a true 1C & top line wingers specifically.

No rush on the EP front that will work itself out. He’s going nowhere til the season begins & a team comes calling. The NMC hurdle can be gotten around as RJ’s next biggest GM test.

Too bad all my spamming on HB 2years ago didn’t get his ass moved out then. We probably all be bitching now about what a bad trade it was if he had proved me wrong lol
