McKenna is making boat loads of mistakes defensively so any coach with half a brain can’t play him regularly against the oppositions top offensive players. Let the 18 year old learn of a full pro game ffs.
I wasn’t pretending he isn’t making mistakes or that he should have top line minutes Dozz, but Hiller has benched him when they needed offense. Christ in one game he rode the pine the bulk of the 3rd and all of OT which was just dumb. Hiller (much like many other past leaf coaches) is treating the stars with kid gloves and the younger players with an iron fist.
All I’m saying is hold them all accountable, if a star player makes a dog shit play have them miss a shift or two.
It’s what good coaches do, hold EVERYONE accountable – the Leafs haven’t had a coach that has done that consistently probably since Pat Burns and to some degree Quinn.
It’s also why I think a guy like Torts might be a good move but he’s a short term remedy because he has shown historically he has a shelf life of 2-3 years but he could be the catalyst to make or at least start the culture change that is needed in Toronto.
