    or send them Nylander.
Matthews to LA to replace Kopitar

Nylander to CHI with 50% salary retained for 4th overall + Sam Rinzel
Matthews to SJS with 50% salary retained for 2nd overall + Misa (or Will Smith) + William Eklund

Leafs draft Stenberg, Malhotra and either Reid or Verhoeff.

    Knies | Misa | Cowan
    Eklund| Malhotra | Stenberg

    Verhoeff or Reid
    Rinzel
    Danford

    Can’t tank again until 2029 but that’s a start to a rebuild.

one day they will tank and rebuild and hopefully get a #1 pick that rebuilding teams need

Rebuilding is about timing. The timing for this #1 pick is absolutely horrible. It just feeds the delusion they can retool. The issue is they can’t continue to tank because they now don’t have their own pick for 2027 and 2028.

McKenna is not good enough to fix this team by himself so all it does is delay the inevitable. A 2-3 year gap between another lottery pick completely fucks up their ability to consistently tank and rebuild. It just creates the illusion that they can retool with Matthews which will fail and leave them with even less time and assets than if they had no other option than to trade him and rebuild.

They have to find a way to trade down, collect more assets, trade Matthews (retain 50% to maximize return) and Nylander (could retain on him too to increase return) and restock the farm for when they can continue to tank again in 2029 and rebuild.

imagine being such a loser you are online doom posting about the Leafs having the #1 pick.
biggest loser energy iv ever seen

Imagine being so blinded by homerism that you can’t see the Leafs are still absolutely fucked and this pick is simply delaying the rebuilding process that is necessary.

Biggest losers since 1967 for a reason anybody in hockey has ever seen.

    Mckenna or Stenberg…no other options
    unless trading for Mcdavid

Or trade Matthews to SJ for #2 pick ++

Malholtra, Reid and Verhoeff are all very valuable options.

You could get a lot more for Matthews if the Leafs retain 50% of his salary and trade him at the 2027 draft. This isn’t the strongest draft to blow that asset on.

    Nylander, though, that would work.

I just went through this guys resume. He’s the real deal. Everywhere he’s played, he’s been a winner. He’s had the longest point streak in WHL history. He lost the Memorial Cup to the juggernaut London Knights and scored their only goal in the final game. Second team all-star in the NCAA as an 18 year old. He’s been sanctioned at the World Juniors with team-mates who had a difference of opinion with the European style of refereeing. He stood up for his mom, at a restaurant/bar and punched out a guy harassing her. This guy has the fire in his stomach. Grab a character player with offensive upside. And for a change, he’s a Canadian.

    The claim:

    “He’s a winner”

    The facts:

    WJC: Lost.
    CHL: Lost.
    NCAA: Lost.

    Yeah, huge winner.

He’s a small one-way winger. But he did win a street fight so that’s cool. He can help Nylander when he’s high on coke at 3 AM on the weekends.

Would Chicago do 4th over all in 2026, Leafs 2nd round pick 2026 and Edmononton’s 1st in 2027 or Frondell for the 1st overall?

I doubt it. They’ll just take Caleb Malholtra or Reid or Verhoeff and call it a day. They already got a small one-way winger in Bedard. They don’t need McKenna or 1st overall that bad.

    Ok little pedo.

Let me guess, you were on here going on like a loser about how “great” marner is cause finally scored a goal in game where his won 5-1.

Of course something positive happens and you are still whining.

    Such a loser.
    Get a life, you’re pathetic.

Ok FakeAOC. Let me guess, you’re a middle aged libtard and you still can’t put together coherent sentence.

    Mckenna 2024 stats – 129pts in 56 games
Marner’s last season in the OHL 116pts in 57 games

But the leafs need a big Dman.
Maybe trade down to 3rd or 5th overall and get a 2nd rounder or even the Canucks 2nd 1st.

Not sure I trust Chayka with this.

McKenna is nowhere near as good as Marner overall especially because McKenna can’t play defense at all.

Doubt the Canucks would give up that much for 1st overall but if they’re that stupid, great, do it.

Leafs would be way better off with Keaton Verhoeff or Chase Reid and a late 1st (JP Hurlbert or Liam / Markus Ruck) than McKenna.

I disagree. McKenna is exactly what they need. Leadership skills and a player that would be a spiritual leader. It’s more than just offense. There needs to be accountability and someone that’ll lead, not follow. By year 3, he’ll be a top 10 player in the league. I’m taking that all day long. Sure, Leafs need defense, but that can be acquired in a trade. Get the guy with intangibles. 1st overall picks are a rarity. Use it wisely. Unless someone comes in and offers a 3rd pick overall and a top 10th overall, you don’t make a lesser deal.

McKenna is closer to Nylander than he is to a “spiritual leader”. He couldn’t even lead Canada to WJC gold. McKenna is all and only offense. He’s not tall, he’s not heavy, he doesn’t play defense and he’s a winger so there’s no strength up the middle of the ice either. McKenna is not an intangibles type of player nor is he a generational talent like McDavid.

How much luck have the Leafs had in acquiring defense in trades the last 10 years? Oh right, it cost them top prospects and 1st round picks and they still absolutely suck defensively.

The Leafs can’t tank for another 2 years. They’re better off trading down, getting Keaton Verhoeff and adding more assets to the farm system. Keaton Verhoeff can develop the next 2 or 3 years so he’s protected from the garbage that is this current team until they have a 1st they can tank for again after they trade Matthews and Nylander.

Don’t think anybody is going to give up a lot to trade up but the Leafs should do their best to trade down. McKenna doesn’t fix this team. He’s the absolute wrong player for this team whether they rebuild or not.

So Mckenna is the wrong player but Marner isnt?

    Ok
    LOL

McKenna has ZERO defensive game. Marner is an elite two-way winger. You’re a total libtard. Get a fucking clue.

He’s the absolute wrong player for this team whether they rebuild or not. He’s as useful to the Leafs right now as Alexis Lafreniere has been to the Rangers.

Stenberg is the better pick over McKenna too. Sundin might prefer the two-way Swede. Keaton Verhoeff fits the best but again, trading down is difficult with a retard GM and less than usual desire for the top pick.

    Pelley: Retard
    Chayka: Horrible track record
    Sundin: Zero experience
Berube: Worst coach in terms of analytics
Matthews: Doesn’t even know if he wants to return to this team next year much less long term
Nylander: Will not endure a rebuild
Rielly: One of the worst defensively, signed long term
    Farm System: Empty
1st round pick for 2027 and 2028: Belongs to Boston and Philadelphia

But hey, a small, one-way winger is added to the mix. Whoopy.

We might as well say that Pelly is calling the shots. He’s the real GM and President of Hockey Operations. Sundin is the face, to make it look legit. Chayka is the yes man that will do as he’s told and take it in the ass, when the failures begin to happen. It’s all about revenue. Why isn’t Berube gone? Because they want to save that $4M chump change. I bet that Domi hangs around because daddy is buddies with big Matts. More Rielly, more of the same losers on lines 3 and 4. Maccelli will do a cameo, showing up in garbage time to pad his stats. I don’t see them doing much because again, it’s about revenue and not competition. Do you remember the slogan? The Passion That Unites Us All? Just slogans, not action. I long for the days of an owner like Steve Stavros who actually was passionate about the team. Now it’s corporate bullshit….wall to Woll. Fuck them all!

p.s. I’m guessing that the Bruins will be happy campers after tonight. The tradition continues…the Leafs rebuild the Bruins….going on 40 years. Rask, Hamilton, Minten, Seguin and the 6th pick in the draft this year.

The Delusion That Blinds Them All.

The Leafs should have a 15 year block on any transactions with Boston.
