ParticipantSo pretty much the same thing the leafs have been the whole time (outside of twice) Marner was here.
Compared to last year, will be worse. Instead of building, the Leafs are now deconstructing, losing pace with Florida that is going to be pretty much exactly the same while the Leafs go backwards.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantThat’s literally the point of my post. Marner decided long ago that he wasn’t going to remain a Leaf, so let’s get it done and over with. We can bitch till we’re blue in the face about how the Leafs mismanaged the situation, but that accomplishes nothing. But you seem like the kinda guy that screams at clouds, so go off.
Leafs would be better off with Colton Sissons than Roy in terms of getting an actual 3rd line two-way C.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantEF expects the Marner to Vegas trade to happen today. Let’s just get this done and move on to the next chapter.
So they can bring in Roy, a big body who doesn’t use it (less playoff hits than Marner) and can’t actually play center because his FO% sucks (47.7%).
Looking like a wild card, 1st round exit kind of season.

Participant8×6.1m for Ekblad just laughable
Is it? The guy just had 20 game suspension for drugs. Think this guy with a history of some injuries isn’t going to hold up. Not like he’s worth 10 million imo.
The drugs part is a non-issue. Tainted supplements happen. There’s an outside chance they did it on purpose to get under the cap at the deadline but that’d be very difficult to prove.
The real issue is he hasn’t played a full season in 7 years and only 3 times in his entire career. Long history of concussions. And he only had 3 goals and 33 points last year.
For his situation in Florida, it’s a fantastic fit. But anywhere else, it would have been a disaster contract.

ParticipantI’d bet Marchand is willing to take far less than $7M to run it back again.
Don’t think it’s that far less than 7. He’s 37 so it’s a risk for anybody to sign him long term. He left Boston because they wouldn’t give him 8+.
Considering he’s on a juggernaut team, the weather and the state itself is fantastic, I’d say his bottom dollar is 6.5 AAV for 3/4 years.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantRielly is unmoveable, he’ll play out the rest of his contract in the Blue and White. But, if Tre somehow moved him and replaced him with Provorov, he’d be an instant legend.
Not true. Seattle or Vancouver could take him and he’d waive to go there. Just a matter of actually pressuring him to do it.
This idiot management team probably still thinks he’s part of a winning solution.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantNo chance he signs that, when he can take less to stay in Florida and clear more.
Panthers would still have to trade somebody like Rodrigues to have enough space for Marchand who probably wants at least 7.
Unholy_Goalie
Participantbut id have swapped him out for Rielly
I wouldn’t have because the price would have been way too high to pull him away from Florida.
I’d rather trade Rielly to Vancouver and get a RHD like Tyler Myers for half the price.
Then hope you can sign a vet like Brent Burns on a cheap home town retirement contract to have him play sheltered minutes and the PP.

3 goals, 33 points, history of concussions. Leafs dodged a bullet. They would have had to pay 9-10 to get him to leave that paradise situation.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantWith Barkov seemingly signing for roughly $6M, the Cats are going to find a way to keep Marchand.
Tell me again how no tax states aren’t a massive advantage?
Barkov? The fuck are you talking about.
Big reason Marner seems “greedy” is because 14 million in Toronto is terribly taxed. He’ll make 12 in Vegas and be way ahead.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantI can see that being the initial goal. JT is the net guy, Nylander is the shooter, and the thing that line has always been missing is an effective passer which is pretty much what Maccelli is.
What that line will be missing is directions to their own defensive zone.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantMAaccelli looks to the leafs 2nd line winger….according to Luke Fox of Sportsnet
Worst case, he’s Malgin.
Best case, he’s Kerfoot.
Same shit, different pile.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantEkblad staying in Florida. Pivot to Provorov if you can move Carlo or just get Marchand for $7-8Mx2.
Carlo was just acquired, he’s not going anywhere, even though he’s not that great. Leafs are already short on RHD as it is. They can’t afford to be down to just 1, Tanev will be in a wheelchair sooner rather than later.
Leafs will have to make Marchard very, very overpaid to come and it probably won’t be on a 2 year deal either unless they want a sky high cap hit.
At 37-41, not sure what Marchand will have left in the tank at that price to be worth it.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantWho fucking cares?
They lost the series so nobody did enough.
They got closer than anybody else. That means with the correct adjustments (get rid of Tavares and Rielly) you can succeed.
So if you’re the free agent and want to stay it’s either offer up the big offer to the team or see you later.
Cap went up by a lot. Leafs are wasting a lot of money on garbage players. But get rid of one of the best players to “save” money so you can waste it on more trash like Matias Maccelli?
Btw if you think Colorado won the cup because of Kadri you are just fucking flat out stupid lol
7 playoff goals, 15 points in 16 games, 2 GWGs. And the Leafs got…? Kerfoot? Good trade. Bet they were hoping he would score 50+ points like you’re hoping Maccelli does. Keep lying to yourself. Or maybe it’s just the brain damage.
Unholy_Goalie
Participanthr has Mitch at 183cm and Micelli at 180cm
one of these players is tinyOne of these players mitigates it by being a Selke nominated 100 point player and has more career playoff points than anybody else on the team.
