ParticipantWoll sucks
Wrong. Fantastic in playoff pressure situations. Leafs just let the Panthers do whatever they wanted.

ParticipantGame 7 demon will be vanquished UG. Gotta BeLeafs my good man. -dmnted
Doubt it until I see it. They’ve given me no evidence to prove they’re up to the Game 7 task.
But more importantly, Florida has every advantage they need to win it and they’ve done it before. The Leafs aren’t bad this year. Florida is simply better in every way.
Panthers are basically undefeated if they end the 1st or 2nd period with a lead.
If the Leafs want any hope to win they must: Score first, control the play, draw penalties, score on the PP and then, the hardest part, hold a 3rd period Game 7 lead.
Marner has a GWG, Matthews has a GWG and Knies is playing injured but he’s already had his GWG. Who is going to step up and be the game winner tonight?
Nylander? Tavares? They had moments earlier in the series but haven’t done much since Game 4 and missed many golden chances. That has to change.
Rielly? OEL? Leafs usually win games when the D is capable of scoring. OEL should be on the PP1. Rielly is a pylon but he’s had some offensive fortune in the playoffs.
Will somebody from the bottom-six FINALLY be able to score a goal? Robertson, the only bottom-six guy who scored a goal is not in the line-up.
The Panthers 3rd line has been a powerhouse and their depth advantage is forcing the Leafs top line to produce all the offense. That usually doesn’t work out for the Leafs.

ParticipantI have a been a fan of this team since 1961. I have had the good fortune to see them win 4 Cups in the 60’s. Since then, with few exceptions, the team has been a shit show. Like Mike from Buffalo, whom I have followed for years, this club has to show me. I hate to say it, but I expect a loss in game7. In this case, In would love to be wrong. Let’s see what happens.
Hope for the best, expect the worst. Rather be surprised than disappointed.
This Panthers team is very strong and they shutout McDavid in Game 7 of the Final last year. They have been there before. And they have even more experience this time around. The Leafs have Game 7 demons.
It’ll take some kind of miracle for the Leafs to pull it off. And that’s why we watch.

ParticipantSo I’m banned from HB until august 15th for asking Ek what kind of lease the new Leafs test writer writes.
Like that what he had in the blog.

ParticipantIf the Leafs make it to the final, regardless of the outcome, please for the love of god, do not riot. LOL.
We’ll never hear the end of it from the Nuckleheads.
No riots during Toronto victory parades. Only day time shootings.

ParticipantI’ve been critical of the overly corporate vibe down at the ‘bank (it’s a very appropriate nickname for MLSEs rink, isn’t it)
That’s actually a great name, good job.
And if they win, the roof will come off that place.
Just like an opera crowd claps at the end of the performance.

Participanthttps://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/game-7-status-for-maple-leafs-knies-remains-uncertain/
Might be without Knies at 100%. Or at all.
That’s a problem.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantAnyone yapping about the crowd being pathetic in the SBA for a playoff game has clearly never been at one – Wedgie is 100% right.
Blaming the crowd is a joke of an excuse.
Those who do so are also the ones who bitch that the team doesn’t change enough because games are always sold out because the fanbase never holds the players / teams accountable.
????
Also I started a game 7 blog ????
Playoffs Jets crowd puts the elite Leafs fans to shame.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantLost in all of this is that Sir Joseph “Brick” Woll is an absolute stud in elimination games. Something like a .950 sv% in 4 or 5 elimination games. Absolutely nuts that we’re blessed with this guy as our “backup.”
Panthers did the Leafs the biggest favor knocking Woll into the series.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantThis is incorrect.
Source: I was there.
Night at the opera.

ParticipantDid I actually read that JT needed to do more when it comes to GWG ms – after being the guy who prior to this year was the only one to get this team to the 2nd round?
And then the fans were terrible in game 5? The fans who paid 400 bucks minimum per seat to watch the Leafs absolute not show up at all?
And then Marner doesn’t get enough love and because he got an assist on a pedestrian pass where Matthews buried the game winner after 9 years of choking in late series games Marner should get paid basically whatever he wants?
All from the same person?
JFC those are some super hot takes there…..???? -Cush29
Does Tavares have a GWG this series? Any points in the elimination games? You want to bitch about Marner in elimination games (1 GWG in the series and primary assist on GWG in an elimination game) while Tavares is doing less offensively and is a liability defensively (11 EVGA in 12GP, worst among all Leafs forwards)? Will the NHL award the Leafs the series victory vs. Florida because Tavares scored against Tampa Bay 2 years ago?
Fans were absolutely horrible in Game 5 from the start. They spent a lot of money to be there? Great. Now they have 400 more reasons to be louder and stop pretending they’re watching an opera. Give your team an advantage. Watch a Jets or Oilers game for a lesson if you need one.
Marner made a fantastic play to get Matthews the puck and played great defense. You’re just too much of a hater to realize it. Matthews had ZERO goals beyond the 1st round until tonight. He’s getting 13+ AAV. But that’s perfectly fine? Wonder how he scores his one goal with nobody to steal the puck and pass it to him anymore? Wonder how he holds the lead without Marner’s PK / defensive abilities?
Reality hurts you. It hurts your arguments even more.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantNot enough credit is being given to Marner for the Game 6 victory.
Great defensive play to take the puck away, great spinning pass to Matthews, top notch primary assist to finally get the monkey off Matthews’ back. Also had a great pass to Knies early in the game that he couldn’t bury.
Perfect on the PK too. On the ice in the closing minutes, constantly clearing the zone without icing the puck or taking a penalty.
In a tight elimination game.
They will hate on him twice as hard for the mistakes and give him half the credit for the successes, calling him a greedy bitch who doesn’t help win big games. Except when he does, then all you hear is crickets.
Bullshit.
No matter how Game 7 goes, pay the man. Continue being patient, even though it’s taking way longer than anybody wanted or expected. Don’t risk watching him win Cups in another city like we’ve seen so many (lesser) former Leafs do before.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantIf you asked before the series would you take a game 7, most of us would have said yes. What an opportunity this is. -Fifty
I would have said no because this Leafs team absolutely sucks in Game 7s.
In front of that dead crowd at home, even worse. The crowd was a disgrace in Game 5 and that was way before the game became a debacle.
Unholy_Goalie
ParticipantI feel that our unseen hero might be Laughton. He’s been around the puck and has played doggedly throughout the playoffs. He hasn’t been rewarded, so the hockey Gods may grant the opportunity to do the unthinkable and dispatch Florida in game 7. -PrinceLH
