If Marner wanted to leave, he would have been playing for the Hurricanes. It was only after the retards in management and the retards in the fanbase, such as yourself, forced him to move on.

Also, I’m not 100% sure of the timeline, but according to some reports the nixed trade to Carolina was AFTER Marner rejected $13Mx8. God, I’m so glad he didn’t take that deal, we’d be subject to 8 more years of playoff failure. Now, if the season is in fact a write off, (it’s not), we can do a full rebuild.
Leafs won 1 round big fucking deal, got demolished in gm 7.. not a chance this years team with marner is much better. and it would just be a mirage.

In hindsight, the Carlo and Laughton trades hurt. But Tre was trying to do what he could to push the Leafs over the top, and that comes at a cost. The Leafs almost beat the eventual cup winners, after losing their #1 goalie in game 1. Granted, they got butt fucked in games 5 and 7, but that’s what the Panthers do, grind you down over a long series. The Panthers kicked the shit out of every other team they played last year, the Leafs were the only team to take them to 7.
Carlo was solid last year, but fell off a cliff this year. Hopefully, he can turn it around.
Laughton was terrible last year, but is playing much better this year. Hopefully, he can keep it up.

Hardly. He’s been gone for a matter of months, and there isn’t a person alive that thought the Leafs were going to breeze through this year. I’ve been saying for literally over a year that Marner had to be booted into the sun, 2025-2026 was going to be a down year or a complete write off, then the Leafs would have cap space and flexibility to improve. Now, I did NOT predict that next year’s UFA class was going to be coming straight off the short bus, but what can ya do?
Knies is still improving, Cowan is playing much better than I expected, JT is a stud, Willy is doing his usual thing and improving a bit defensively, (yes, I understand that bar is exceptionally low). Matthews will get going playing with Knies and Cowan, book it.
We need Tim Kerr 2.0 to get healthy and start sniping again.
