I still would be surprised if Shaw gets the job. He was the “good cop” to Torts, I just believe for this job, that is a non-starter. Not a surprise Tocchet has limited interest in this job, apparently. The good friends with Jonesy was over blown. Not doubt there is a friendship, but Tocchet is 61 and if he accepts another HC position, it will probably be his last. Taking a job from a top 5 worst record in the league, made little sense.

don’t understand where tocchet gets all this hype. he has done absolutely nothing in 9 years as a head coach. why would a “winning” team want him?

him turning the flyers down would be 100% fn hilarious as what a bad look for the GS.

I wonder if they are looking at an assistant on a current playoff team. Maybe Bill can shed some light. otherwise seems a long time to not have a coach in place at his time. Wonder if there is a domino effect waiting to happen once one goes the other will follow.

I can’t envision any circumstance where he would want to come back.

Now that Ottawa made the playoffs the pressure is now ramped up. he comes back here little to no pressure and the feel good story. gets to ride into the sunset so to speak.

from a wanting to try to win perspective makes zero sense. He will probably do 1 year contract with the Sens for 5 million per or maybe a 2 year.

    What agency represents hagens….

if they draft a center with the 6th will they rush that player into the lineup for 25/26? Could potentially have that player plus the Jett with ex selke and Cates. Then again they may add a center via trade for free agency.

Can the Jett play in the ahl next season or still juniors or nhl only?

really want to see them make a play for mcqueen with the abundance of other assets they have at their disposal.

    Bill was:

    – Rizzo hurt or healthy scratch?
    – Have the flyers to talked or have any interest in Maxim Shabanov? if not any idea why?

    – do yu see the flyers trying in any way tp bring giroux back?

= what free agents do you see the flyers targeting.

People are starting to slowly filter over. We have a bad actor here creating accounts using our names from the “other site” and that is getting sorted out slowly.

I am intrigued by Ferschweiler. I like that he was an assistant in the NHL before becoming a successful college coach.

whoever coaches this team is in a losing preposition. hire lappy and finish low, despite that not being the plan. flyers lack the talent for whoever the coach to matter much. though would prefer a modern in tune type coach. If Ferschweiler gets hired he clearly wanted the bag of cash. which cant blame anyone.

lappy or shaw my be one of the few coaches who would want the job. So the flyers may not have much of a choice.

They have ex selke and laughtchenko on the way. That is 2 -3rd line centers right there. Do they really need to sign cates to a 4/5 year deal so they then have 3 – 3rd line centers?

This team is afraid of the sell high concept.

    https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/news/noah-cates-philadelphia-flyers-arbitration-restricted-free-agent

According to a team source, Cates is said to not be interested in a long term deal at this time and is planning to bet on himself on a one year contract that would be awarded via arbitration. With the salary cap set to skyrocket over the next several seasons to well north of $100 million, the two sides don’t seem to be in lockstep with what the player’s value is on a long term deal. According to the source, the team views Cates’ value in the $3.5 million AAV range on a four- to six-year contract.

Always said they should have looked into selling high. Sadly that is not a concept the flyers understand in any way.

maybe they can finish 11th and win the lottery next season

Or maybe make a play for Eichel if he is available.

With apologies to the late Mitch Hedberg: Goalie drafting is like a baked potato in a conventional oven. Draft one even if you don’t really want it right now. By time it’s ready, who knows?

No issue taking a goalie later. Do you really want to take one with the late 1st or early 2nd? Now if that is who they have as the BPA then so be it.

If the Oilers end up winning it or losing in the cup finals that trade last year will have backfired (same pick in a lesser draft). Never ever seen a trade in all of sports where you trade a current first for a future first and get nothing back.

Funny with Wisdom Bill. I remember a few months ago during an in between period interview with a female reporter. She brought up something to the effect your playing much better an what not. What do you attribute to that. Wisdom then says it is a contract year. I thought it was great.

Bill he has .0001% chance to crack the Flyers lineup next season. Just look at the numbers game. Add in the fact the flyers never met a 4th line free agent they didn’t like.

What will they do with ND? you see him retiring and getting a job in the orginization? On the roster? Or waived?

I doubt they throw Bjarnason to the Bears for game 5.

They should (assuming he is healthy). Montreal had no issue playing Fowler and he has killed it. He is going to be a good NHL goalie.

I would expect the Flyers to potentially take the first goalie (Ravensbergen) off the board as well.

With carson and the russian you think they use one of the late first on that goalie? that would be a waste to me unless they grade the raven higher than those 2.

is kolosov headed back to europe?
