Knies has turned into a pumpkin, 1 assist in last 10 games. obv still very early but not looking great for Knies, missing AM and the Leafs top line?

October is over, now you can start judging Bobrovsky. Before the Leafs the guy’s SV% in October was 0.902%, he has always sucked in that month.

The D however… sigh… I have a bad feeling we are going to hear a lot of “hurt, healthy, hurt, healthy, hurt, healthy” going on with them this year.

The Leafs are losing the 5v5 battle so consistently, they are among the worst teams in the entire NHL. That tells me they will continue to allow a lot of shots, a lot of chances and will live and die by the special teams. The PK must remain near perfect and the PP must score goals to keep them in games.

If Bob gives them average goaltending, they could be a wild card team but unless they fix the 5v5 play, they will not be a truly successful team.

Agreed however unless they learn how to draft or they get a miracle fall in their lap to replace half the of defense, Chayka’s only option may be to try and score 7 per game and hope Bob can allow less than 5.

Well, as I’ve said, I don’t think scoring is the Leafs problem anyways. They want to score 7 goals instead of 5 a game? They need to shut down teams, not try to outscore them even more.

So yup, either fix up that D or as you’ve said, look into a rebuild. Maybe we will be lucky enough where Matthews won’t agree to do contract talks next year which will hopefully change Chayka’s attitude pretty damn quick.

Is it worth it to have two MVPs on the same team at the same time both still in their prime? The cap is going up and up and up every year and Marchenko is already set to take 12.5 AAV. If you find a way to clear Rielly’s (Domi and Joshua) contract, the cap space is found.

I wouldn’t do it. I would sell and rebuild. However, Chayka wants to be Mr. Blockbuster and his analytics might scream “DO IT”.

I see the biggest obstacle actually being Tampa Bay refusing to trade him within the division which is why he’d most likely end up in the West for a king’s ransom.
