ParticipantHere is a good example of how stupid the Drury is a genius comment is.
Since taking over before the 2021 draft, Drury has brought in John Lilley as director of player personnel and amateur scouting while replacing multiple scouts and coaches, but he’s kept Jed Ortmeyer as director of player development and Tanner Glass as Ortmeyer’s top assistant.
The results haven’t improved. Of 31 picks made across five drafts with Drury at the helm, no selection has played more games (48) or produced more points (14) than 2022 fourth-round center Noah Laba.
What a winner!!!

ParticipantNo lol. Would just be another black eye for drury.
That being said, he is useless as a Captain. What a terrible situation.

ParticipantIs it possible they strip JT of the captaincy after the break?

ParticipantRangers should be in on all trash contract players other teams are trying to free themselves of.
As far as LAF goes… unless someone is willing to overpay, thinks the Rangers are holding him back and believes he can be more than a 50pt player, I would be in no rush to move him yet. He may not be the generational 1st overall pick that people thought he could be, however… hes still a middle 6 mainstay, who plays 80 games a year, who can contribute and who can play with a physical edge.
Look at the haul Kraken got for Bjorkstand and Gourde, two 1sts and a 2nd. Im not saying were gonna get some crazy haul like that, but to say that LAF isnt worth a late 1st I think is a bit of a stretch. The issue will always be that he went 1st overall. If LAF was drafted anywhere after the 5th pick, no one would say a thing.

ParticipantYeah good point about JRob..although I believe Guerin has final say. Usually lots of cash tends to sway players. But I think there is too much stain on the last 2 years here. Players talk about that stuff all the time. Panarin chose LA because of what Gavrikov told him. Could you imagine what players are thinking when they see Drury on Team USA? Oh isn’t he the GM of the one of the most disappointing teams in the league and your team no longer competes especially at home? Having Sully there isn’t a good look either and forget Quinn 🙂 Just remember Drury drove the Hartford Wolf Pack into the abyss for 4 years before coming here.
I still can’t fathom Drury not asking for at least a second rd pick since we don’t have one for 2 years! You think Kings would have hung up the phone being on the cusp of acquiring the Rangers leading scorer last 7 seasons! Just seems like that’s something he should have inquired about. ( spoiler alert Kings are average even with Bread and don’t see them winning a round so forget about better compensation from that deal)But then why would Gavrikov sign here? That doesnt make sense.

ParticipantI watched an interview with Rupper about Jason Robertson. He was talking about the Rangers trading for him. Rupper made a good point. JRob is a RFA now and then a UFA soon, why would he want to play for a coach and GM who didnt take him on Team USA for the Olympics? Yes he would have to report but not have to resign here. Interesting point.
Going after Robo would be a huge mistake, and it would be a huge mistake on Robo’s part to come here. He would be wasting his prime years here.
