Interesting tid bit for Buffalo the Sabres made the playoffs this past year and looking at the top 4 young dmen on the team they all had played over 200 games in the NHL to start the season.
Byram 328 games
Vlasic 260
Kaiser 175

Ethan Del Mastro 45Based on this theory the Blackhawks are 2 years away from the playoffs, those dmen are babies.
Another thing, Bowen played just over 300 games so as upset as i was with the trade, it’s kind of nice to trade for a defenseman who’s best years are in front of him and have other teams develop him.
If Rinzel and Atry take steps this season we will be really good some nights especially with the addition of 2 more top 6 forwards in Frondell and Kantserov.
Hoping Spellacy shows well so we can have a 4th line of Greenway, Spellacy and Boisvert.
I also think it’s crazy how fortunate San Jose has been. I think Celebrini is a wonderful player, but they trade away Eklund, draft Stenberg.
So they trade away a top 6 forward to draft a top 6 forward. I believe Stenberg was on one of the best teams in the league not to take anything away from him but even in the world juniors Frondell was named the best forward.
Now if it’s true they wanted Byram and they were going to trade 9 and whatever, they really can’t be happy with eating those picks and having to develop 2 defenseman.
I know this may sound crazy but could the Blackhawks on July 2nd sign Bedard to a one year deal for $20 million dollars, then on the same day sign a 7 year contract at $12 million dollars per year? This way Connor gets him money and we get future cap relief.
I know people are saying Greenway was a throw in, i didn’t know he had sports hernia surgery twice because the first one didn’t work? Was finally painfree at the end of the year for Buffalo. If we get the same guy i saw in the playoffs for Buffalo I’ll be very happy with him, we need a wrecking ball on the ice.
Honestly watching this draft i feel better that the Blackhawks traded for Byram now, so essentially they drafted him with the 4th OA pick. Kind of glad we had more to offer than San Jose
You know the more i think about it the Blackhawks traded a 3rd pairing dman for a top 4 dman who is entering his prime.

KorchinskiWe’ll see how it goes but it does look like he makes our dcore better, i do hope he does grow more defensively in his own end since he’s not 27 yet.
I am happier that he’s a 25 year old player instead of a 35 year old defenseman.
So i guess Bowen didn’t play that many PP minutes and still ended up with 40 plus points.
I guess he also just turned 25 years old just like Vlasic, hasn’t got to his prime yet.
I’m really trying to sell myself on this deal but that was a steep price, is this team better with Bowen sure but i hope it doesn’t end up being worse defensively
