ParticipantBrackett hired by the Leafs.

ParticipantMichael Russo @RussoHockey
Hearing director of amateur scouting Judd Brackett is leaving the #mnwild for an elevated position for another team. Brackett ran the Wild’s last 5 drafts and is on an expiring contract.
I havent heard Linden going off about Benning not being sold on a draft eligible Elias Pettersson these days(or Lefty for that matter). Wonder why? Wasnt Petey Brackett’s guy?

ParticipantShilov at 33 would be great but very unlikely. He has moved up… he may not even be available at 24… I would take him there as well.

ParticipantD with 4 is also good thinking…

ParticipantI would love to pull it off…. much better than the idea floating around to trade the #3 and Debrusk for the #2 to insure they get Stenberg. That’s a terrible idea. First off, there is a really good chance SJ takes a D which means you have a great chance at getting Stenberg anyways without giving up Debrusk anyways.
I’d take my chance at landing one of the top 2 ranked prospects at 3 and trading Debrusk for picks in this and next years draft.
Trading Hronek and getting the 4rth would be great. Stenberg and Malholtra… or if things went whacky, Mckenna and Malholtra…. They could also trade Hronek at the TDL for a 1st in next years draft(Hronek + if need be)… if no lottery protection, this could work out to be a franchise changing trade.

ParticipantA new beginning that looks something like this…
“After an exhaustive search through the available hockey people for the Presidents job we found that our player development coaches were the best fit to lead the club and President of Hockey Operations”.

“After exhaustive scouting of the draft eligible players in the 2026 NHL entry draft, we found that our coaches kid is the best player to pick at #3 OA”.
Sure feels like a new beginning and direction….

ParticipantTwice I used the quote tab and my post didnt go up. Let’s try it without “quote”.
They don’t need to rush things and stack the team with middling prospects imo. They have an opportunity to take a player from the top class this season and nothing guarantees they get a top 5 next season. Take the #3 now. I think it’s 50/50 that SJ passes on Stenberg. I also think there’s a 30% that the Leafs take Stenberg over McKenna. If that happens and SJ goes with D, Canucks can pick the top ranked player in this draft. Don’t mess it up by trading away that chance. Think about it… we have as good or better of a chance at Mckenna than we did winning the lottery and picking him.

ParticipantKlepov and Cullen both have rocketed up the rankings for good reason. They will be gone before the top 20 are selected… or at least that is the popular prediction from the scouts. Even Shilov will be gone by 24 I think but for sure.. any of those available at 24th and you grab one and dont look back.
The list of who I would like at 24 would be pretty long if I listed the players that will likely be out of reach.

ParticipantInteresting mock. Coming out of the 1st round with McKenna and Hurlbert would be a grand slam.
