Gallagher would be a stupid trade or signing.

I don’t see the Sedins or RJ as blockbuster guys. Sign Reid take Lin at 24 and Shilov at 33. Your D would be set for years along with leadership. Keep both MPetey and Hronek for at least 3 years and the kids will flourish.

Raty will move up a line this year and Karlsson should improve. I do want to finish last again next year and draft the teams #1C

Don’t take away a young players spot and hand it to Gallagher. The young guys already taking the leadership to another level.

Without knowing the sweetener with Gallagher is the only question mark with 1 year left on a contract dump. It will take 1-2 other F’s traded to make sense to give youth opportunity for spots. Hronek needs to stay but not MP.

I’m cool with Reid but not overboard on D picking 2 in the 1st. Doubt Lin will be there anyways. 24 Hurlbert 33 Bleyl 41 Cali or Cover.

Raty only moves up if a healthy Chytil moved to the wing & Cootes sent to Abby. Chytil should replce a traded Debrusk. Sasson C4.

The bass in the building when a song comes on is enough to knock Chytil out for the season so not much of an issue….

Shilov won’t be available at 33. Earlier in the year he was ranked in the low/mid 20’s but has risen a fair bit. He will be gone before 20 I imagine.

I’m hoping Caleb Malholtra is a smoke screen. I’ll be genuinely shocked if he goes 3rd with the brief success he’s enjoyed. I’m also not the biggest fan of the Cootes pick. He has been pretty vanilla the 5 or so times I saw him play against the Royals. But he also had no talent surrounding him until he joined Prince Albert. So you never know even if you sorta do.

Verhoeff is my guy this year. There’s enough depth in this draft to get a decent C later. Or trade Hronek for one.

Scouching did a pretty honest feeling breakdown of Malholtra. Said in the games he watched he was not as defensively aware as the reputation he has for it. Not just that but had to be bailed out too often. Mentions his top speed is respectable but slow on the first 3 strides. All stuff that can be worked on but not typically in a player going top 3 (or 4 or 5 even).

I’d post the link but every time I’ve tried my post disappears. Youtube block I guess. I find Scouching doesn’t get caught up in the player of the moment groupthink.

Nobody’s trading down. It’s super rare that anyone ever does in the top 5. Just take the player you have ranked the highest and move on to the next pick. Just going from the rankings of players I’ve watched personally over the last couple of years in the WHL, it’s a deep draft. They’ll get a good player at 24 as well.

This what scares me. They are not very good at identifying best player. As much as I like Cootes, they passed on what most others thought were better picks and now that draft +1 is out of the way, we see the picks immediately after him look a step above already.

If they take Caleb… they’ve done it all over again most likely. You can take a elite winger or dman… and go for a C next year when they will have more and better options most likely. But I sense some tunnel vision in play.

I get it… we need character but at #3 it’s ridiculous to reach out of the top 3 for the coaches kid which is surely going to back fire at some point. Between fans, media, team mates, father son, etc etc… it’s just a bad idea especially after suffering a unhealthy room the last few years.

It’s not a stretch to imagine Tynan Lawrence who will be his team mate next season at BU will outshine him and suppress Caleb’s ice time. Tynan will already be a sophomore. Caleb may only be the 3rd best C in this draft. Pass.

I agree. Hronek is not without value to the team this upcoming season. More valuable in a trade if it gets a 1st rounder in the first half of the round. Otherwise wait for TDL.

Debrusk hinted at wanting out. I doubt he starts the season as a Canuck.

Demko could be an interesting trade at the deadline. He’s kind of forgotten about. If he stays healthy and plays well… he is signed for a few years… he should bring in draft picks and/or prospects. If he stays healthy for the Canucks… he’s only going to water down next years strong draft for the team.

I’d try for that 16oa but also ask for 2nd pick in next years draft. Hronek is not getting a top 10 pick unless it’s next seasons unprotected pick and the team surprising struggled or something.

I was listening to a show and they broke down what players landed top 10 picks in a trade the last 10 years. I think Hronek would have to be younger for that to be honest.

There are some desirable prospects that may be available at 16. Wyatt Cullen(high skilled), Malte Gustafsson(big rock solid D), Oscar Hemming(big, hard hitting power forward), Hulbert(high skill).

It’s a terrible idea. 50/50 if you are throwing Hronek away for a player that was going to be there at 3 anyways. If they cant get a pick higher than 20 for him, trade him at the TDL for a pick next season…

Cannot pass up on top line winger or top pair D for CM. I like him but not at 3oa. 2027 tank for a good C draft.

He’ll be good for the early stages of the rebuild. This makes drafting Caleb a really poor idea.

    Brackett hired by the Leafs.

Good he really hasn’t done a spectacular job in Minnesota, Canucks have 3 of his top picks in Rossi(9oa), Ohgren(19oa) and Buium(12oa). Brackett isn’t the drafting guru Lefty made him out to be.

I’ve been hearing Canuck related media saying Todd Harvey is rumored to be pushing hard for Verhoeff at 3oa.

I think he’s going to bounce back but I still think he’s too risky at 3.
