ParticipantI think we are seeing the death of HockeyBuzz, or certainly the death of that site as we knew it. The new site looks more modern, but is actually worse in almost every way for the members. Casual visitors may like the new format better, but regular forum members who came for the commenting are going to be turned off by the new comment system. No quote posting (what is it with sites lacking that basic shit now?), no threading, no private messaging, and a bunch of social-media fluff like emoji reactions and like/dislike thumbs. It’s not good.
And what’s with the poor customer service girl trying to hold people’s hands in the comments and post video tutorials on how to use the fluffy stupid features nobody asked for or wants? Is she still there? Bless her little heart. Have the wolves run her off or eaten her alive yet?
Well, it might have seemed like updating HockeyBuzz would give HotStove something to worry about. I think it’s the opposite. Ek just did HotStove a huge favor.
My two cents.
I’m not sure Ek ever understood what made his site work. He seemed to believe that we were all drawn by all the roomers (E1’s to E5’s) or by the his insights and not that he just gave everyone a home to bitch or troll Leaf fans.

ParticipantCool look at how a clip from a baseball telecast is put together.

ParticipantSometimes, the blogs would be pretty decent. Meltzer comes to mind. Even Engels had his moments. The rest of them regurgitated stuff, were there to practice writing, or were just trolls.
Not once do I ever recall going to Hockeybuzz for news or for an “insider” opinion. It was 100% about the forums.
I agree although the guy doing the Leafs blogs now is actually the best they’ve had. He seems to look for interesting takes on things. But I agree that the site is just just a mechanism for guys to get together and tell each other how stupid they are.

Participantwith Robertson signing on Saturday, the second buyout window will commence soon.
Do the Leafs buy anyone out?I think trading away contracts is more likely and more advantageous. Robertson, Kampf and and Jarnkrok are all very moveable. They were able to get something back for Reaves.

ParticipantI can’t imagine the arbitrator only granting $1.2M.
Seems like the Leafs are being stingy.
FFS, just trade the kid for a bag of pucks.
I think 1.4M for Nicky is good 1 yr deal IMHO.
But if arbitrator gives him what he’s looking for team is stuck with it. Not worth taking the chance

ParticipantYankees loading TF up, SMDH.
I think Jays have one more move. Just traded Wagner for a minor league catcher. Opens up a roster spot.
Or maybe not. Spot for Bieber with guys coming back? Dunno

ParticipantI’m tired of Jays playing it safe. If he gets back to form, their rotation becomes really good for a decent price (maybe 3rd best pitching prospect). The player option means he likely goes to FA. He’s pretty much a rental
Thats my concern…he could be just a rental.[/quote]
So, they just win one WS. Like Sensie says, it’s part of what makes a top of rotation starter affordableCanadaCup

are you saying this is the Jays playing it safe? because I think its the opposite. very risky for a decent P prospect
I like that they’re not playing it safe. Bieber is really good if he’s back and players have earned bringing in a top of rotation guy
