Would have loved to do Rielly for Karlsson 1 for 1, maybe have the Pens take Jamrock and or Kampf along with it if possible. Karlsson would do nothing at all to help defensively (we have enough defense first dmen) but he may still have a bit left in him to be the powerplay defenseman we’ve been missing for years. I like Carlo, I’d keep him. Many teams who make deep cup runs have quite a lot of big bodies on defense. But the whole point is moot as Rielly won’t waive his trade clause but I’d rather Karlsson for more money but much less term than Rielly.

I propose a deal where Edmonton gives us McDavid and we give them a conditional 7th round pick.
The condition? If the Leafs win 5 Cups in a row, they get to swap 7th round picks with us in 2035 AND one crisp, unrolled, roll up the rim to win Tim Hortons cups.
The funny thing about “proposals” is anybody can make them up. Doesn’t mean they’re real or remotely logical.
There is no chance in the world the Penguins are trading their #1 and #3 goal scorers (both 30+ goals) before the season starts and in return they get McCabe (2 goals), Robertson (15 goals), Maccelli (8 goals) and Cowan (0 goals). Saying NO to this deal is the cherry on top. Pretty sure Crosby would tie Dubas to his garage door and shoot pucks at him like his childhood dryer in Cole Harbour if the Penguins even thought about doing this deal.
