cant wait until april to have this discussion.

some really think this is a good team on the upswing. pure entertainment. they also think tocchet is a good coach I bet

And when they ignore the facts, some people think this is a bad team and Tocchet is a bad coach. They’re on pace for 100 points. Last year they had 76. The negativity has reached peak comedy levels.

Phenomenal goaltending is saving their asses, if we’re being honest with ourselves.

Vladar is giving them top tier goaltending, Ersson is not and still has won more than he’s lost. It’s Black Friday and only three teams in the East have a better win pct than the Flyers.

Going into the last half of an essential six game stretch against conference rivals. They won two of the first three. If they can do the same in the last three, it will be very encouraging. They need to keep making shots. Wednesday, they got one more D goal, Foerster stayed hot with the game winner and Couturier and Michkov got goals. Definitely need something from Zegras-Dvorak-Tippett today. They’re due. If you’re going to get your goals by committee, all the committee members need to chip in regularly. Islanders aren’t a super strong home team.

Kind of smoke and mirrors win for the Fly-Boys, along with some stellar goaltending. For a team that is really, really, void of any high-end talent they are managing “ok” this season. The Panthers dominated possession and scoring opportunities early on, but strong goaltending from Vladar and opportunistic scoring late in the third period allowed the Flyers to take the two points.

Most NHL games come down to making shots and getting bounces. All the systems stuff from both teams does is cancel each other out. When the Flyers make a shot or get a bounce, they win most nights. On Thanksgiving Day, only three teams in the conference have a better win pct than the Flyers.

The Flyers have gotten two points of a possible four in a tough six game stretch. The schedule doesn’t really ease up until mid-December. It’s hold the fort time.

The second goal, they really broke down. They were playing a banged up team but let one line beat them, kinda like Dallas. A bad slide on the 2nd goal from Andrae along with Drysdale’s desperate dive. I do not like the slide. If it misses, and often does, your guy is wide open and it’s an easy play at the net. Didn’t matter, the Flyers didn’t score. They didn’t get many shots and I would say they were all pretty easy for Vasilevskiy. A lot of breadbasket stuff he could control. Need better shots there. I saw a few passes when the shot was there, three or four. It’s time, place, score. You’re down well into the game and getting stuffed. When you get a shot, take it. The perfect plays don’t happen when the other team is D-ing up like TB did. Konecny was a guy I saw pass in a shoot situation, Cates too. Tippett hit a post, that was the closest they got to a goal.

After a 2-4-2 start, TB has gone 10-2. They’re still winning even with Hedman and McDonough on IR. They have a very good, deep team and will be a challenge. The Flyers have been scoring more the last couple games with the goals spread out among a few guys who needed them. That’s generally a nice sign. Second of six games against tougher conference rivals. They have 2 points so far and could probably do well adding another 5-6 in the remaining 5 games.

The playoffs are all in the flyers hands. They control their own destiny. Anything less than that would be a disappointment at this stage.

Why not? 97 points is the magic number. They need 72 more points to get there and have 62 games to get them. That’s not an insurmountable task.

Flyers got goals from each of their top 3 lines. Foerster is really heating up after an injury and dry spell. Couturier sprung both Michkov and Brink on nice goals. Drysdale is actually pushing guys around. Zamula-Seeler were both +5. Zegras, Dvorak and Vladar, the off season acquisitions, are all having career years. A solid, convincing win. On Nov 23, the Flyers have the 3rd best win percentage in the conference.

The Flyers got their 3 goals vs STL from sources that had been dry lately. A good sign. NJ has 1 goal in its’ last 2 games. This is the start of a very important 6 game stretch for the Flyers playing conference rivals either ahead or directly behind them in the standings: NJ twice, NYI, PGH, TB and FLA. On Nov 22, the Flyers have a better win pct than every team in the conference except CAR, NJ and NYI.
