is your prediction the flyers make the playoffs? yes or no?

Too early to tell. Early signs are encouraging. BUF and NYI look like trash. I’d say, right now, they’re three of nine teams with a shot at the three available spots, so that’s approximately 33.3333333% chance.

The majority of experts think that, if anything, moneypuck is too optimistic in it’s team point totals. They understand that this is a deeply flawed team.

The experts? Perhaps thinking for yourself is worth a try.

Looks close to right for now considering the Flyers are one of 11 teams competing for 3 available playoff spots with five playoff locks, CAR, FLA, TB, WSH and TOR in the conference. Probably about 27%. Keep hoping for the worst and then alibiing when it doesn’t happen.

    Irrelevant to the flyers.

I get it your trying to talk about buium without talking about him. My bad.

By your logic you wouldn’t trade any of those flyer players you mentioned for any of minnys top 4.

Hahaha! I have been keeping an eye on MIN because of Buium but the whole team is a catastrophe defensively. They do have a great power play and Buium is part of that. They have 8 PP goals in 3 games. That’s dangerous. They gave up 7 to CLB. They had a 3 goal lead on LA in the 3rd and blew that, although they did win in OT. They can’t play in their own end. They look like they’re going to be one of the worst defensive teams in the league unless they turn things around.

why would I care what Minnesota’s top 4 are doing? how is that relevant to the flyers?

send me your address as will mail you a brick by brick t shirt.

For the second time, just for you, the Flyers are playing Minnesota Saturday. I’m not surprised you think how an opponent this coming weekend is playing isn’t relevant.

go flyers. brick by brick. keep slurping.

any early thoughts for when they acquire dylan mccalrath?

Why should they acquire anybody any time soon? They’ve absorbed having two of their top 4 Dmen out. They’re cycling guys in, out and around on the blueline and seeing what they can do. Ginning, Juulsen, Andrae and Zamula are a combined +1 after three games vs. good teams. As a comparison, Minnesota’s Top 4 are a combined -13 after three games. We get to see them Saturday. That should be interesting.

these are they games they need to win when facing a team backup goalie and minus their star players.

florida looked like they had no interest in playing last night.

Flyers had two of their top 4 D out Thursday and last night too. FLA has 3 great lines when fully healthy. Thursday and last night, they had 2 great lines. FLA looked especially uninterested in the third. Hahahaha!

rookie russian looks solid. would loo into finding a way to get him more minutes.

dvorak playing 1st line minutes again is comical.

Grebenkin will get more minutes as the season goes on. Who do you think moves up when the Flyers get an inevitable forward injury? Dvorak is a solid 2 way player, wins faceoffs and the Flyers played with the lead most of the night. Why wouldn’t you use a player like that in such a situation?

the jett once again without a shot on goal. he needs touches and lots of ice time/minutes. this will not happen at the nhl level this season.

tocchet does nothing for me a as a coach.

So they split with the two time Cup champs in a home and home and steal a point on the road from the other conference finalist and you’re still whining about Jett and don’t like Tocchet as a coach. That’s rich.

The Flyers and a vocal segment of their fans would rather die on the 1974-75 hill than change. Bleeds orange and black and was born to be a Flyer.

Can’t see how anything has changed under DB and Jonesy other than the shiny packaging. What’s inside the box is still the same.

The Wild have been laughing every day for the last 2 years over the Flyers incompetence.

Of course you can’t see it because you don’t know what you’re looking at. Better offense, defense and goaltending. Must be overwhelming for you.

    – as JJ said, flyers hanging with the best teams. love the “moral” victories 2 games into the season.

    – very important point per boucher.

    – bad call on the goalie in OT. brutal to me.

    – imagine anyone thinking brinks spot was in jeopardy of not cracking the lineup.

Hahaha! A point was stolen from them last night due to bad officiating and the Toronto call. I wasn’t sold on a few guys heading into this season, including Brink, Drysdale, Abols, Zamula. At least I named specific names and didn’t just engage in vague general dumping on the team. Three of them have delivered. How is that a problem? How many games last year did Brink look as good as he did last night? If there was even one, he would never ha

comparing a rookie in buium to a seasoned very like JD is a tad off base. love your obsession with buium. playing a tad under 25 minutes a night last game. take him and his play over what the flyers have to offer, going forward.

however the chances of the flyers developing buium into a top pair guy are slim. better off for laughtchenko. he bleeds fleyrs and plays flyers hockey.

The chances of any team getting adequate defense out of Buium any time soon is slim. He wasn’t as brutal last night as he was in his one pre-season melt down but -4’s don’t lie either. Drysdale has a whopping 220 games in, hardly a seasoned vet. MIN seems to be following the “we’re going to outscore our opponents or get blown out at home by Columbus trying” plan.

I feel bad for Brink after he had a great game but Drysdale with 0 points and 0 SOG. Sanheim played another 30 minutes tonight. Neither keeper had .900 sv% tonight

Hahaha! .897 for Ersson. Hardly awful. He stopped a lot of pucks. Very disappointed they didn’t steal another point or two these last two games. It was there for them. The reffing tonight and OT goal ruling were trash. Drysdale has been OK. I don’t care about his offense. He looks much better defensively. Speaking of offense, Zeev Buium scored his first NHL goal tonight en route to his first -4 game against the high octane scoring power of Columbus. Defensively, he’s making Drysdale look like Larry Robinson.

The All-Star Weekend, which took a hiatus in favor of 4 Nations this year, will return at the New York Islanders’ UBS Arena next February. That will serve as a bon voyage event ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy, which mark the return of NHL players for the first time since 2014. It was a one off tournament, which may never happen again, that replaced the all-star game. It was great, exciting and really promoted the game, but ultimately meaningless warmup to the Olympics. In soccer it would be called a “friendly” tournament.

You’re actually doubling down on this claim! Hilarious! I don’t even bother watching All Star games any more. Those games are friendly. 4 Nations, and the World Cup games that came before, were anything but friendly. Did you actually watch any of the games? Yeah, we see this kind of hockey in All Star games every year!

I literally said that it’s ok to trade or sign the rest of your defense if needed if you have the cornerstones and you went and listed trades and UFAs that were acquired? ummmm .. so thanks for proving my point?

Another aspect that we haven’t talked about is you have to be smart on who these waivers and traded players are that you select. You can’t be trading for or signing Risto or TDA players unless their cap hit and performance are right for your team. Like TDA at $1 mill was a good play for the Hurricanes because he was cheap and Slavin covered up his deficiencies. He was a bad fit for the Flyers because they paid him more than his on ice value, plus traded picks, plus not having a Slavin to help him out. So a team has to good talent evaluators to evaluate what they have, what they need, and what they should spend to acquire them. The Flyers absolutely have none of the above.

What’s the 4 nations have to do with anything? I’m talking Stanley Cup and you are talking about the All-star game replacement? lol. Entertaining hockey and good for Sanheim but it doesn’t go beyond that. Both Bouchard and Ekblad are better than Sanheim but they picked who they thought would make the best team, not necessarily the best talent and their reasons are their own.

Ekblad is a very good all-around defenseman. Bouchard is a very good offensive defenseman. Four Nations was a tournament and the teams were picked by the top hockey guys from the included countries. But I guess they weren’t “good talent evaluators.” You can laugh all you want. All Star game replacement? Now, that’s funny. What does Tony DeAngelo have to do with where the Flyers are at today? He hasn’t played here in three years. Fletcher brought him in. Fletcher, like Torts, is gone.

    Panthers – Ekblad – #1 overall
oilers – Bouchard (10th overall), Nurse (7th overall)

There’s your Stanley cup finals teams and looking back you will find similar results.

Thanks for the superficial overview. Now look at the rest of the D.

    Panthers: Jones-trade, Schmidt-FA, Kulikov-FA, Mikkola-FA, Forsling-waivers!!! WAIVERS!
    Oilers: Walman-trade, Ekholm-trade, Klingberg-FA, Kulak-trade

Did Ekblad, Nurse or Bouchard play in 4 Nations? Sanheim did. Thanks for playing.
