I am going to be positive here in that let’s think about what “far apart” means. I haven’t checked any articles about it or sources to know more details so I am speculating but can it not mean Knies wants a shorter term and leafs want longer? It doesn’t HAVE to be dollar amounts and it’ll be an overpay. It could be maybe the leafs want to give him 5 and he wants 8 or 9. I don’t necessarily believe that 8 x 8 would be a 1 or 2 mil overpay. I think we need to look at the contracts this year with the cap going up in the future in mind. We just gotta hope we don’t have another pandemic to stall it all out again

An important note about the Marchment/Seattle deal – GM Jim Nill sent Marchment to another ‘no state tax’ team. Dallas re-ups Duchene 4.75 x 4 yearsall fine, Donato had a big sh% jump this season, id expect that to return to normal and he lands somewhere in 20g 20a range.
Fabian Zetterlund was odd for the Sens, not much production, I guess they are banking on him scoring 20 again
