ParticipantThe end result with the Leafs getting the #1 pick after not getting Full value for Mitch is as good an outcome as I could have hoped for.
they got Roy which they flipped for 2027 1st and 2026 5th.Mckenna/Stenberg a 1st and 5th out of a wasted season

ParticipantMitch went to a better team, had more success but the same results.
MM had 1 assist and was -5 in the last 3 games, pretty on brand for Mitch.this one might sting the most for him. oh well.
on to the Draftsenstrolltwo
ParticipantBest player available does include more than points, which is why pretty much everyone has Mckenna/Stenberg as very very close.
projecting how well a player will do in the NHL relies heavily one how they score in junior leagues.
If the Leafs want one of the D, they should look at trading for another pick in the top 3-10, not trading down. Also, I very much doubt there is a Schaefer, Makar or Hughes in this draft. they could also be Gudbranson, Larsson, Ryan Murray, Griffin Reinhart, Juolevi
Also the Leafs doing well in the reg season exit in the 1st round included Mitch Marner for 9 consecutive seasons. the second he leaves hes on a team in the finals, its takes more than 1 player. The GM has to build the team.

ParticipantI’m guessing that will be the case. It’s why the price will be high. Vancouver and Calgary want McKenna for more than his hockey ability. Both want an elite talent, Western Canadian, for marketing purposes. Although the other top prospects have very similar worth, they aren’t local in the eyes of the Western Canadian teams. McKenna will be similar to Marner, but in one difference, he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder, if pushed. Marner never had that. He was all skill with no grit to his game. This is where the two players are different. I think Knies gets dealt before McKenna. With Montreal sniffing around, Chicago might want to take a run at him, but it’ll be costly.
Captchas are bullshit!
Its a nice story and I can see why teams would want to have Mckenna to market, its an easy sell.
Iv consumed all the draft content I can, and Mckenna seems like a real one, from a good family who values the right things. He also comes off as someone who gives a shit and wants to improve, and like you said has a bit if a chip and something to proveif he does end up on the Leafs my guess is he puts up 50-60 points next season, PP time is a big factor for over/under on that.

ParticipantIf the Leafs trade down, it will be either Vancouver or Calgary. They won’t trade him to the an Eastern team because that would be a headache for the next 20 years. Chicago might take a run at Knies, but it’ll cost them the 4th overall and either a top prospect or another 1st rounder. Any and all scenario gets you a top prospect and a sweetner that turns into another first rounder later.
Fuck these annoying captchas.
it just seems very unlikely they Leafs trade down.
Mckenna is going to go #1, and be a nice playmaker for the Leafs which is something they lost when Marner rode his donkey out of townsenstrolltwo
Participantmy best guess I have the Leafs taking Mckenna at 90% and 5% they pick someone else and 5% they trade the #1 pick

Participanta close race

As iv said before, i think if Mckenna stayed in the WHL, he would have put up silly numbers and had a higher NHLe
going to be fun on draft nightsenstrolltwo
ParticipantEdmonton looking at Babcock for coach. Sounds great.
another tire fire for fans to look at and away from the Leafs.I cant imagine that would work out well for Edmonton and specifically Mcdavid.
hope the Oilers can get their man

If #Oilers elect to continue down the path with Mike Babcock, sources say the #NHLPA is in receipt of “significant” additional claims from their own investigation with players that were not publicly reported in 2023.Those claims were presented to #NHL prior to his resignation.
Furthermore, sources indicate that asking players to see photos is NOT what ultimately resulted in Babcock’s resignation. It was the subsequent (unknown) allegation reported below that cost Babcock his job in #CBJ.

ParticipantRielly should be able to be moved without adding a sweetener.
his cap hit when he signed was 9.1% of the cap, which now would be 9.5mil
another way to look at it, his cap hit now would be like 5.9 on the 82mil cap.for a puck moving 3/4 D, thats fine. If he was a UFA now, would a team give him 7.5m x4?

Participanthere are the combine results (top 10) in each category
lots of names iv never heard of

ParticipantI hope they Hire Babcock that a nice circus to watch. I doubt he would help the team win any more then the last coach. its the GMs building the team that sucks
he would be the 7th coach for Mcdavid. 7 coaches in 12 seasons. he should help Mcdavid out the doorsenstrolltwo
ParticipantTear down and rebuild in 3 years hahaha
just absolute nonsenseretain 50% on Nylander for 6 years lol
like every 1st round pick will be an NHLer lol
they wont get top 5 picks, they will all be 15-32senstrolltwo
ParticipantI havent paid attention to Saves as a stat for a decade or more. who cares about saves lol, there a 10 other stats that are more important
But Hoffman never had as close to a dominant run that Varland has. So yes, Id give him a shot to try and close out a WS
but he may not be able to either, because the best closer in the history of the league could only do it 80% of the timesenstrolltwo
ParticipantLeafs are going to retain 50% salary until 2032 on Nylander lmfao
it gets dumber the more you read
