In hindsight, Dubas was adequate. But I think the entire Shanny era was an unequivocal failure. The way Marner was handled from the start was a disaster, they gave the kid (or his dad) absolute power and got burned in the end.

They have no assets to trade to acquire anyone of use. Plus you can no longer be above the cap in the playoffs….like the panthers have been for the past two years.they can take teams bad contract to get a better return with more cap space

In hindsight, eliminating the director of sports science and performance role at MLSE seems to have backfired considering all the injuries that have plagued this season.
But, hey, MLSE removed a few hundred K from the bottom line, shareholders must be happy!!!
Literally, the Leafs should have far and away the best facilities, doctors, and medical staff in the entire league. In a salary cap league, they should be spending TONS of money to make the team attractive to players and to give the team an edge on preventing and treating injuries. Strangely, by contract, the Blue Jays seem to be on the top end of the league when it comes to things like that.

To bad for the Leafs the NHL change the salary retention policy other wise the Leafs could of gotten some extra picks with that cap space.

Word was Joshua would be skating before the Olympic break, so what’s the benefit for the Leafs to put him on LTIR? Opens up a roster spot or something?
So the Leafs have placed Joshua and Tanev on to the LTIR. That’s 7M extra in potential cap space.
