I’ve really liked his game since coming to the Leafs, quiet and effective. I saw a clip of him talking to the media right after the Leafs grabbed him and he seemed like a guy who had something to prove – always a good thing.

He and McCabe have been a great pairing too, seems to have allowed McCabe to not try to do too much and he is looking much more like his reliable, tough to play against self.

Good pick up by Tre!

I wonder if the play of Hildeby last few games has got Tre thinking to just weather the storm here until Woll is back and run with Woll and Hidabeast as the 1, 2 combo until (if?) Stollie can come back? Would be nice to not have to give something up to get a temporary solution between the pipes but thinking about how long it would take for Stollie to get back to game shape once he’s finally back on the ice – what 2 weeks? More? The fact the Olympic break isn’t until Feb doesn’t help, they can’t bring Woll back from injury and immediately press him into playing 80% of the games or more without risking him re-injuring himself IMO.

Who knows maybe this is the “I am NHL ready” party for Hildabeast – it’s happened before where an NHL rookie goalie took over from established starters (if we want to call Woll and Stollie that) and never looked back. Potvin in 92/93 is the best example as he stole the net from Grant Fuhr!

Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that’s the case here at all but maybe Hildabeast is NHL ready at this point, even if it’s to be the back up to whichever of the 2 goalies the Leafs have labelled as 1A/1B is healthy because it doesn’t feel like both will be healthy at the same time ever.
Honestly, I dont think they can use Woll as a full time option ever, too fragile. He seems like a really good back up.
I know they’ll have to do what they have to do in the interim until Stolarz gets healthy which looks to be mid January, now. But long term, I dont believe Woll is a viable starter….hes great….but often injured, cant be relied on.

Nice win.
Great to see the beast get his first shut out.
Keep up the great play, the leafs are really going to need him. If he can fill the void for the next week or three, that could turn this season around.

Leafs are now 3pts back of 1st in the division and 2pts out of a playoff spot.
Gonna be a tight race

No to Tucker and Bregman

In Popkins and Walker we trust đź’™

Yes to tucker for the right price, but not at the expense of Bo (unless they get Marte). Tucker has a 4.5 WAR, jays need quality OF.

Having two rookies in net long term is a big risk. They should probably call Reimer back and start looking for goalies with NHL experience unless they want Boston to draft as high as possible.

Stolarz injury was worse than expected and while Woll is “only” out 1 week, that could be worse too given the history.
Forgot reimer.
Stolarz has over 150 games, hardly a rookie anymore.
The issue isnt having young goalies or a rookie goalie in Woll, its that woll isnt reliable. Every time the leafs need him, he gets injured.

It’s frustrating, but you have to hope he felt something was off, and with the game well in hand after two, they decided to play it safe. Fingers crossed. He’s been insane this year.
Here’s hoping it was only precautionary.
The leafs drive to get back into a playoff spot depends on good goaltending. Hildy isnt it.

That’s so unfair, he has started 8 of the last 9? That’s a 72 game pace over a full season, therefore a Brodeur pace.

I know it hasn’t played out the way they’ve wanted but Berube cannot continue leaning on the goalies the leafs have like they’re f’n 90% starters. It’s simply not who they are.
Its not unfair at all. He’s a professional athlete (in his prime), he should be able to handle playing 8 games in 20 days, its a short stretch and he wouldn’t be playing this amount over the course of the season. So the 72 game pace is irrelevant as it would never happen.
Missed 35 games last year, missed several weeks in 2023 (ankle), another ankle injury in 2022 and missed games in 2021.
Plays well when he plays, but it seems like you cant ever rely on him.
Its too bad.

Vs. the Panthers, in the playoffs:

Tavares had 0 goals and 0 points in Game 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7. The one game he did score in, Game 3, they lost, because he had 4 giveaways and was a minus 1.

Nylander had 0 goals, 0 assists, 0 points in Game 4, Game 5, Game 6 and Game 7. He was a minus -3.

Those playoff ghosts are leading the Leafs to a lottery pick this year.
No one said JT, willie and MAtthews werent great either in the playoffs…several things can be true.
Marner has a history of disappearing in games 5- 7….and last year he was useless in games 4- 7.
Leafs offered him a deal, he rejected it.

Quick being a whiny little spoiled child.
Move on.
Or go watch vegas.
Marner is gone….he couldnt carry the leafs.

And marner got a whole 1 assist….1 WHOLE POINT in the final 4 games of that series. 1 assist in the FOUR FINAL GAMES!
So hes not the reason the leafs took the panthers to 7 games.

Two things can be true…..Marner wasnt the reason they took the panthers to 7 games and yes Tre trading a 1st and minten for Carlo was a garbage trade…..and the leafs organization is kinda of joke.
All can be true.

GWG and two primary assists on 2 GWG. He had as many goals vs the Panthers as McDavid.

Facts are facts. He directly helped beat the Panthers 3 times.

Where was Tavares and Nylander after Game 3? Ghosts. Defensive nightmares. Facts.

The fact is he disappeared again the final 4 games just like he has for the most part for games 5-7 the past 9 years.
Facts

Get over it.
Move on.
Quick being a fucking baby.

Or, take the Cup Champs to Game 7 in the 2nd round where he was directly involved in 3 GWGs.

But yeah, giving Boston a 6th overall pick and tanking is definitely better.
I’m sincerely reaching the point where I hope the leafs don’t win a cup til Marner retires and gets hired as their GM so he can fucking fail too just so UG SHUTS THE FUCK UP

Hey everyone, I’m still thinking that was a solid win over the Pens by the Leafs 👍 Cheers

Stupdid Marner slurpers. I was a fan of marner, but he wasnt perfect and he choose to leave.

The leafs never made it past the 2nd round with Marner…marner barely produced in games 5- 7 for 9 years.
We arent missing winning the cup because Marner left and Vegas isnt winning the cup because of marner.
This marner BS and the morons who spewed need to STFU.

Now with that said. The leafs are truly missing regular season marner.

And it was a very solid win against the pens, Woll looks pretty good.
