ParticipantI honestly thought nobody was touching the Avs this year.
Me too, they just looked unbeatable during the regular season. But that’s why they play the playoffs games, different animal. Necas had one goal in 13 games, not good enough.

ParticipantMark Stone is the quintessential player that can’t skate very well but he’s such a good, clutch, player.

ParticipantYeah, everything seems to be pointing in that direction. Personally, I have mixed feelings about yet another rookie Coach and GM combo. But at this point I doubt there’s many other options. I can’t see the demand being high to be part of the 32nd place team that’s in no rush to win.
Ownership has a lot to do with who they can and can’t hire, in my opinion. The Sedins, much like Linden, were golden boys in Vancouver, but that didn’t work out so well for Trev, maybe Aquilini has learned. But I doubt it.

ParticipantHB had its day but time to bury it.
Coaching hire oughta be coming soon & the draft is coming up fast.
This format has its issue as well, but at least it’s somewhat better than HB, which is deplorable.
The draft is going to be interesting, on many fronts, I’m not sure at this point if the Canucks stay at #3 or they move up or down???

ParticipantMarner is gonna win a Cup his first year in Vegas, that’s going to be hard for the Leaf faithful to swallow. Man, he’s playing fantastic with a deeper group around him. Amazing what happens when a team has talent, depth across all four lines, good/big/mobile defence and good goaltending.
My wife and I are moving to Muskoka from Arizona shortly, As a Westerner I don’t know how I’m going to handle all the Leaf love in Ontario??? Wish me luck!!!

ParticipantI’m down. As bad as this format is, I can’t even post on Hockeybuzz.
I’m thinking Malhotra will be hired sooner than later, but stranger things have happened, I’m just glad Rutherford is mostly out of the picture, he was the creator of a lot of problems within the organization. Either by opening his mouth too much or by not dealing with internal things in a timely manner. I’m hopeful the Canucks are in a better place now, even though it won’t show it in the standings for a while.

ParticipantYou know, as a late 50’s Western Canadian and an outsider looking in, it’s somewhat fascinating to watch the Leaf organization over the past 40 years. In recent years, the Shanaplan years, they played some good hockey for y’all but they never accomplished anything of note. Just so many poor decisions and a flawed roster resulted. Now you seem to be between a rock and a hard place, do you start over again or do you continue to chase with a flawed roster.

ParticipantAre the Leafs gonna look completely different next season, or more of the same same? Personally I think now is when you trade Matthews before the Oilers trade McDavid, the haul would be an unbelievable kickstart for a re-tool.

ParticipantHypothetically, let’s assume B. Tkachuk and A. Matthews decide they will not extend with their current franchises in a few years. As a Flyers fan, I would be shocked to see them waive to come here. Does the Utah franchise have a better chance then Philly to land them? Probably. On the same level as Vegas, TB, FLA, DAL, CHI, LA, or NYR? Probably not. So I disagree with you it is only cyclical based upon if a franchise is playing competitive hockey. In 5 years, may be my opinion will change.
Players just wanna win, winning solves a lot of issues. Winning starts with drafting well. Typically you have to lose to get good draft position, that’s just how the systems set up. McDavid, Draisaitl, MacKinnon, Barkov, Matthews, Eichel, Heiskanen, Makar, Stutzle, etc. These kids are all top five picks, the Flyers have had one top five pick in the past eight drafts, Cutter Gauthier, who they traded away because he’s a bitch.

Participantthere has been a decade+ of incompetency. That isn’t changing any time soon.
when you waster 1st rd picks on jett and nesbitt doesnt matter how many 1st you have
Wasted picks, LOL, you’re such a drama queen. Seven kids in the entire draft taken after Luchanko have played a game in the NHL. Even if he doesn’t pan out, the draft is not an exact science.
