Just read Leafs are 5-1-2 in their last 8 games. I had to actually go check NHL.com. I did not believe it after all the whining on here
And still barely outside of being a lottery team.
This team is playing like trash and is winning games they have no business winning.
Playing like shit for 50 minutes isn’t how you make the playoffs or win Stanley Cups.
But of course the absolute biggest retards here will buy into the illusion because they’re just too stupid to see the process matters as much as the results which is why this team (the core) always loses when it matters the most.

You’ve been burying your head in the sand all season. This is what this team has become. They have been bad all year, everyone just creates excuses for them.
Too many shots against, not enough shots for, terrible PP, bad PK and unsustainable shooting percentage which indicates their offense has been fortunate to be as effective as it has been.
These stats are all indicating they are a bad team, without a 1st round pick, in lottery territory.
Anyone else kind of hoping that they just continue to be so bad that they decide to sell at the deadline and rebuild.
If there was any decent offer for Matthews at this point, I would take it. Rielly, Tanev, OEL, Carlo might all fetch a decent pick at the deadline. You could even take back short term salary. I would even consider trading Nylander.
I don’t believe their highest paid players are ever going to become guys who care enough to win.

Leafs don’t have a 1st round pick in 2026 or 2027 so rebuilding right now would be tough.
But they could systematically plan to blow it up for 2028 and have as many as 14 1st round picks (or top prospects) if they play their cards right by 2030.

But there were are pretty good last 6 seasons.Imagine the same rebuild without trading Kadri, keeping Hyman, not signing Tavares and drafting defense instead of trading 1st round picks for rentals. It would have ended much more differently.
