So pathetic. You were so sure bringing up Sullivan would do nothing for the PP, but here we are since at #3. So quit being a fucking baby. You were so fucking wrong. Just admit it. Been cooking without Matthews too.

Pathetic is your inability to accept the facts. Sullivan is not in charge of 100% of the PP for the Leafs. When he was in charge of the PP in the AHL, it sucked balls.

By your retarded logic of “cooking without Matthews” it suggests the Leafs PP would be better off without Matthews which is obviously retarded.

What you can admit to being wrong about however is how this team has been complete dogshit without Marner. Just admit it. You were so fucking wrong.

Announcers said last night the PP was third in the league since Steve Sullivan started running it. They must not do research.

Steve Sullivan is not running the PP by himself dipshit. Since he was hired, the PP has been done by committee, which means, at best, he’s running 33.3% of it. His PP on the Marlies was piss poor when he was running it solo. With the Leafs, he hasn’t been the sole reason for improvement. As I’ve told you numerous times, and you’re too retarded to understand it, the Leafs PP improvement is an addition by subtraction. By removing Savard, the Leafs immediately improved, regardless of who replaced him.

Also, while the Leafs PP% has been strong, their total PP goals is middle of the pack. If you’ve been watching the games, you’ll realize there are long stretches of games where the Leafs PP gets nothing. Then they have a big game like vs Anaheim because they decided to be motivated for one game. Then disappear again. Much like the rest of this team, the Leafs PP has been wickedly disjointed and inconsistent. A lot of the time, they’re scoring PP goals because of individual efforts and dumb luck and not because their system actually works. In short, it’s unsustainable and like the rest of the team, needs a major overhaul.

Boston currently drafting 6th. Typical Leafs.

Good news is Ron Francis just quit in Seattle. He’d be a good candidate as President of Hockey Ops. Maybe not the absolute best track record but I would love to have him in the organization if not for any other reason than to lure Rod Brind’Amour to the franchise in a couple years.

President: Francis, VP: Pronger, GM: Mehta, HC: Brind’Amour…that’s an executive group I could see rebuilding this team correctly.

The Leafs have the money to grossly overpay executives more than they got paid as players. It’s the one advantage they don’t exploit enough.

you have no idea what someone’s limitations are or anything about them, you are just making shit up with a quick 2 min “research” project you did. Someone working in the NHL for 15 years might add some other skills to his resume
We had the Hockey man President for 10 years with Dubas. It doesnt mean shit

I know your limitations are that you’re retarded and can’t comprehend the simple fact that most of the guys who run successful teams have vast hockey knowledge and experience.

Yes, they did and while Shanahan failed to win the Cup, he did guide this franchise back to respectability and 9 straight years of playoff hockey (failure). That doesn’t prove that they need poker players to run a hockey team though. It just means they need better hockey people to add with the statistical geeks to make a stronger team of executives.

As I said previously, Mehti might be a genius with stats but his experience is limited to numbers. They need a hockey mind above him and they’d probably need a contract guy beside him. Not sure he’s good with contracts either.

How the fuck would you even know any of this?
    completely making shit up.

    sure man lol

    Do some research dumbass.

He is a data scientist, professional poker player and options trader. Hockey wasn’t his main focus in life. Never played hockey much less professional hockey. That’s a serious disadvantage if he has all the power to run a hockey team. This is like hiring another Dubas minus the part where at least Dubas was around hockey his whole life whereas this guy has played more poker than he played hockey.

This is exactly how the Leafs hire a guy who does everything by the numbers but has less of a clue about the culture and the game itself. That’s where you need a guy like Pronger or somebody else who at least played the game, who understands the locker room, who understands the game behind the numbers.

Mehti is great with numbers. But he wasn’t the hockey mind behind the Panthers. All that groundwork was laid years before his numbers got involved. If the Leafs hire him to run the entire team, you won’t get the best results without having a hockey mind above him. Just like how Moneyball was a great story but didn’t win a World Series.

so Sunny Mehta it is for GM?

Need a solid President of Hockey Ops above him if he becomes GM. He might be a wonder with numbers but his eye for hockey is limited compared to what an NHL GM should have.

The stats and numbers guys from the Hurricanes and the Bruins are on the Leafs list too. Again, more number guys without a solid hockey eye above them would be a mistake.

Some idiots have suggested that Gillis is the guy for the President role. He is not the answer as President. That would be a very retarded Leafy hire.

The jays are def not the same team with Kirk, Berrios, Ponce, Garcia, Bieber, Yesavage and Barger (toss in Sherzer last night) injured.

only 150 games left..oh well was a good try jays, see you in 2027

Injuries to starters is a piss poor excuse when starting pitching is not the problem so far. The offense has disappeared and the bullpen is blowing games.

Yes, it’s only been a few games but the early signs are not good. They’re losing games to terrible teams. And the Dodgers, the team they’d have to beat in the end, destroyed them.

The starters will get healthy and the offense will find itself but without serious upgrades in the bullpen all the rest will be a waste.

The Dodgers are the same or better.

The Jays aren’t even close anymore.

The Leafs are in a great spot to tank out and get the fifth overall pick.

But, of course, Florida is going to tank better and bump us up to 6th. Florida and Boston simply own us, there is no fighting it.

Washington (Home), back-to-back, Long Island, Florida (Home), Dallas (Home) then Ottawa.

Can the Leafs lose all five? Do the Leafs tank vs. Ottawa if they can eliminate them from the playoffs?

Leafs probably do what they always do; 2-2-1.

phew, dodged the bullet of going to the cup Finals.

And becoming like the Jays; great one year and losing to 100+ loss teams the next.

DeBoer is a career runner up coach. He might break his curse eventually but the Leafs needs to rebuild.

DeBoer is off the table as a potential new Leafs coach as he’s headed to the Islanders.

That’s perfect. Now the Islanders can lose in the Finals instead of the Leafs.

The Leafs need to rebuild properly, not to become pretenders again.

The Leafs will hire the DEI candidate every time. Time to go to sleep, this one’s in the loss column. Watched the Sens/Sabres game earlier. That was a good game. Leafs are nothing but cannon fodder right now.

They have like four or five DEI assistant GMs already.

Nylander has already said he would NOT stick around for a rebuild. One has to assume Matthews would give the same answer. And if those two guys waive, absolutely nobody else on the team will not also waive.

Could the Leafs do the following:
    Present: Mike Gillis.
    GM: Sunny Mehta

    I guess we will see.

Sunny Mehta is a worthy candidate but would require a legit hockey guy above him to have the hockey eye test as the final say.

Mike Gillis is not the guy. Absolutely not qualified at all to run this team in terms of track record and doesn’t seem to have anything new to bring to the table either.

Did really state that or is that your statement?

That’s pretty much what he said in a less direct way.

    LeBrun states the following:

    – The odds are higher the Leafs hire both a President and a GM.
    – The search for the next President / GM will be more expansive as the previous one was limited. (Hence why they ended up with a dumbass like Treliving.)
    – The early candidates are applying with the intention of a rebuild, NOT a retool. This means the outside hockey world is giving them the answer they don’t want to hear.
    – The retool / rebuild question will be answered by Matthews.
    – The person hired might just be a “yes man” like Dubas was when Pittsburgh hired him to follow marching orders.
