The best offseason move was and why?

    John Tavares – 74 games, 30 goals, 34 assists, 36 points
    years.

math doesnt math here. but 64 points for 4 mil is a great deal.

I also like that you have 279 total goals, which is 11 more than they scored last season.

Not math, just a typo. Fixed it. 279 too many goals for this team, fixed that too.

4 million to do fuck all in the playoffs like he did vs. Florida and be a giant defensive liability.

    The solution is this:

    Joshua | Matthews | Nylander
    Knies | Tavares | Domi
    McMann | Roy | Maccelli
    Lorentz | Jarnkrok | Robertson

That 3rd line looks just brutal under Berube’s style of hockey, a couple of midgets with a big winger on a recovery season. Here’s hoping Robertson keeps scoring since his linemates will pass to him basically non stop very predictably *shakes head*

As for Cowan, it’s the right call. If all he will be for the leafs is a 12/13th type guy put him on the Marlies. Only make him a leaf if he’s a full time top 12 guy at the VERY bare minimum.

Absolutely don’t like this line-up at all.

1st line isn’t dangerous enough. 2nd line is a defensive mess. 3rd line is small, not tough or strong enough to be a shut down line. Roy is getting paid A LOT to be a 4th liner when he was supposed to be the new shut down 3C.

When Laughton returns, Quillan or Blais go down and one of Robertson or Jarnkrok goes to the press box. Cowan belongs with the Marlies for now.

I think once Laughton comes back, Cowan will be brought up. Berube really liked that 4th line.
Unless someone who is filling in performs well in the interim.

That or Treliving is trying to sell some players and is essentially forcing his coach to play them.

Now that the dust has settled, here is Toronto’s projected cap-compliant roster to start 2025-26:

    Knies – Matthews – Maccelli
    McMann – Tavares – Nylander
    Joshua – Domi – Robertson
    Lorentz – Roy – Järnkrok
    Extras: Quillan, Blais
    IR: Laughton

    Rielly – Carlo
    McCabe – Tanev
    Ekman-Larsson – Benoit
    Extra: Myers

    Stolarz
    Primeau
    Non-roster: Woll

I think we’ll see Cowan in first 5 or 6 games. Berube is going to want to try different guys and different combos before Laughton comes back.

He’s already a Marlie. I doubt we see him until Laughton is back. Treliving sent him down as soon as he practiced in a grey jersey.

The Leafs already had too many forwards, now they added Sammy Blais. Cowan is way down the list.

The Leafs still need another RHD and need a back-up because without Woll, the Leafs are one very likely Stolarz injury away from missing the playoffs.

since the Leafs claimed him, he needs to be on the roster for x amount of days before he can be sent down to the Marlies.

Just seems weird to pluck a guy like that off waivers and expect him to be a full time player.

He played 0 games last year and 53 pretty bad games the year before. Doesn’t seem like much of an improvement in terms of a full time player.

In terms of 4th liners, he seems more like Pezzetta than the other 4th liners they have.

Leafs make a couple waiver wire claims.

    Cayden Primeau and Sammy Blais

I would guess this may end the Reimer return.

also say goodbye to Jarnkrok, Kampf and most like Robertson.

Blais played 0 NHL games last year. He was an AHLer. So, he’s not locked into the line-up over those guys yet.

Blais has always been a 13th forward type player, even under Berube in St. Louis, never played a full NHL season in his career.

Primeau’s NHL numbers are not that great so this looks more like a gamble chasing future potential rather than current proven results.

Blais is a 4th liner Berube trusts from St. Louis days, crash and bang spark plug.

    McDavid signs 2 years x $12.5m.

A true star and team player.

    Take note Matthews.

But McDavid was going to come to the Leafs…

    Matthews ain’t doing that.

The best offseason move was and why?

    – Knies extension. He’s going to have to step up big time. Joshua is a dark horse for top-six impact player.

The worst offseason move was and why?

    – Letting Marner walk. Huge mistake. So was bringing back Tavares.

This player is actually pretty good but everybody hates him.

    – Marner. Because Leafs fans always need scapegoats.

This player is actually garbage but everybody thinks he’s good.

    – Tavares. Because Leafs fans want pajamas more than a Cup.

If I was GM, this is what I would have done.

    – Retain Marner. Let go of Tavares. Trade Rielly. Get tougher depth.

    Knies | Matthews | Marner
    Joshua | Jenner | Nylander
    McMann | McLeod | Domi
    Formenton | Laughton | Lorentz

    OEL | Tanev
    McCabe | Carlo
    Benoit | T. Myers

    Foote

    Woll | Stolarz

If you remember nothing else I said, remember this.

Leafs won’t do jack shit in the playoffs.

Florida will have the exact same team that beat the Leafs last year all over again. Their only hope is if Bob falls off a cliff due to injury or old age. Tampa Bay has multiple MVP level players who can easily knock out the Leafs or a tired / injured Panthers team. Hedman, Vasilevskiy and Kucherov are not finished yet. And they know how to win. The division is top heavy and dangerous. The Leafs lost an elite two-way, 100 point player and replaced him with spare parts and 3rd liners. People believing that is an improvement are coping. Stolarz and Woll are still risks to being injured / not playing. Case in point, Woll is starting the season on the sidelines. If the Leafs goaltending isn’t what it was last year (it won’t be) their D will be exposed as old, slow and ineffective, especially on the right side as the Leafs still only have TWO RHD which has been a problem for 10 years.

Talking about it doesn’t make you a bigot.

Using your bigotry towards trans people to justify supporting a fascist criminal government because, “hey, at least they’re rounding up all the brown people and lgbtq+ people who I hate” makes you a bigot of the highest degree.

And it makes you a fascist. Yes, like the Nazi’s were.

it has nothing to do with her writing capabilities. the book is just her opinion my good man. until she has an MD license, it’s just her opinion

just like how you have the your own opinion on how the Leafs should be.

no, that sound is you passing gas.

I’m sure she wrote the entire book and never consulted a single MD. Oh wait, you worship at the altar of the “experts” despite plenty of MDs speaking out against this practice including the UK (where Carney has his daughter transed at a “clinic” which is now shut down) which has reversed course.
