Sullivan is also a major problem. Not known as a development coach, and he hasn’t won a playoff series in 8 years. He was another wrong choice by drury.
I wouldn’t want to trade Panarin or Trocheck to Minn. their prospect pool and picks are GUTTED. Stramel is in his 4th year in college with so so numbers. He’d be a fringe 3rd liner at best. Hard pass on a trade with Minn.
DET is the team we need to try and make a trade with, they’re loaded.
TJ, my issue with you saying “they needed to do this and Drury knew last year” if true, would show even further how dumb drury is. Imagine the pick last year was top 10 and Drury decided to keep it, and now we might be giving up a top 3 pick instead? We got “lucky” we only gave up the 12th OA pick.
Those aren’t the types of moves a smart GM makes given the state of the team last year and knowing his intention was to continue to tear it down. He loses on trades a lot more than he wins.
I agree with keeping Laf unless it’s a deal like Laf for Wright. 2 guys with pedigree that need a change of scenery.
That’s why the Kakko trade infuriated me, scrub dman and nonsense pick. Would’ve been better off keeping him. Then the moron doubled down and signed him to that contract.
Panarin to WSH makes sense. Give Ovechkin one last run at it. I’d take Ilya Protas and a 1st. Maybe add a 2nd or 3rd round pick but that being the meat of the trade I’d be happy with.
If Trocheck is going to be traded; DET makes the most sense. Up and coming team, they’ll have him for 3 more years after this one and he’s a good vet for some of the younger kids. If we retain I’d want a top prospect, 1sr and some other B prospects or 2nds/3rds added.

Dolan fired the other 2 and drurys true colors showed. Blame everyone else for his failures, nothing is his fault.Laf and Kakko were consensus picks. They got buried on the 3rd line with 0 PP time and 12 minutes a night. No other 1st or 2nd OA player got/gets treated the way they did. You know my feelings about Laf, but he got screwed in his development by this organization. He was never put in a position to succeed bc Drury was all about win now when it wasn’t time yet.
Getting rid of Kreider is bazar to me. He always showed up in the playoffs, was a locker room leader, remember his hat trick in game 6 a few years back in the 3rd period? Guy always showed up in the playoffs and that’s who we just salary dump?
Agree with Miller being Drury’s Hail Mary. No way he was thinking rebuild with the possibility of giving up a top 10 pick either last year or this year (if it landed that was last year). He thought Miller would at least limp us into the playoffs and Drury could continue his fits as to who he wants gone next.
Like you said, letting the entire league know u didn’t want Kreider or Trouba on the team anymore put us at a gigantic disadvantage in returns of trade value. Just one of the dumbest things a GM can do it let everyone know you want a player gone no matter what. Amateur stuff from an amateur GM
I don’t think they’d give McQueen for Panarin but I’d sign for it.
DET should be all over Trocheck. They’re loaded with high end prospects and should be competitive for the next 3-5 years at least. To me they’re probably the team that benefits getting him the most. I know I’ve said it before, but retaining on him should be on the table to maximize the return.
