ParticipantCanucks take Olsen. Sleeper pick. I don’t mind this one. Brooks Rogowski has higher bust potential I think.

ParticipantBR’s scouting report
24. Vancouver Canucks: Adam Novotny, LW/RW, Peterborough Petes (OHL)
24 of 32
2026 NHL Draft – Day One
Strengths: Skating
Weaknesses: Would love to see him create more offensively
Pick Grade: A+
B/R Rank: 15
Analysis: We had Adam Novotny ranked at 15th overall; the Vancouver Canucks getting him at 24th overall feels like a steal. He has, without question, been the best player left on our board for a minute. The only analysis you need about this pick is that he is precisely the kind of player that the Canucks need; he’s got an Energizer Bunny-level motor and efficiency, skates incredibly well, and is developing his creation ability.
If you are a defender who has to go up against Adam Novotny one-on-one, make peace with your god now. You aren’t the one who is coming out of that scenario with the puck.
Novotny is engaged in every aspect of the game; he can create in multiple situations, and he’s an absolute beast on the forecheck. If you were to ask which prospect was most likely to make opponents cry out of sheer frustration, Novotny would be the answer. There isn’t a single shift where he doesn’t make his presence known and make an impact on the game.
He’s incredibly efficient, impacting all areas of the game and menacing opponents both when he has the puck and when he doesn’t. He can create on the cycle and off the rush, and it has felt like his offensive game has been developing further even over the latter half of this season. He’s intense on the forecheck, and he’s got speed that will burn most opponents.
Combining all of that with his offensive skill and the fact that we see his strengths consistently, he really projects as a power-forward type. Before his game rounded out, it was thought perhaps he’d end up more of a sniper; it was nice to see that develop further this season. Novotny will not need as much of a runway as many of his peers.Feels like a good pick. I wonder why he was a faller? Usually its because of size and skating but that’s not an issue with him.
Looks like he’ll be back on the Pete’s next season. No need to rush him.

Participant33rd… Preston, Mutryn, Olsen, Håkansson, all worthy of the 33rd imo.
At 41, they could take a shot at the goalie Tobias Trejbal if he’s still there. Highest ranked goalie. Ben Macbeath might be a decent D pick at 41.

ParticipantMany consider Olsen a sleeper pick and surprised he’s not ranked higher. He’s a athletic gem. A conditioning demon. Been skating since he was 3, his father was a pro SHL player. Watching film on him, he scores from anywhere in the O zone. Finds seems. Has a wicked shot. Very high compete level. Coaches say he really pays attention to detail. Maybe he’ll be there at 41….

ParticipantGleb Pugachyov is off the board. I was hoping he would be there at 33 or 41. This guy is basically a bigger Sherwood. A hitting machine…

ParticipantAdam Novotny – was he on your board Booner?
Had my eye on him still. I had Preston and Bleyl ahead for ceiling but this kid is pretty beefy at 6’1″ 200+ pounds. His playoff numbers were almost non existent unfortunately.

ParticipantNovotny I like the pick
One of the higher ranked guys this late… definitely a faller. Could be a very good addition to the middle 6.

ParticipantOnly 7 teams in the NHL havent made a trade in this frenzy… The sellers rebuilding Canucks are not one of them.

ParticipantOf who’s left, my top guys are Preston and Bleyl… I’m looking for upside/ceiling. Size and physicality would be nice also, but 2 picks in the 2nd can also be used foir that.

ParticipantMorozov gone… was hoping he would make it to 24…
One of the midget Dman is probably be their pick…
Novotny? Maybe Bleyl?
Rucks not interested in.The way this team thinks,,, Lin is probably their guy. Local boy playing for local junior team. With their logic that trumps BPA or need.
