GM Bill Guerin speaks on Kaprizov contract – “I know two things, that info didn’t come from us and it didn’t come from Kirill’s agent, I don’t know where it came from.

I don’t see Kaprizov leaving the Wild either.

It is funny bringing up Kiprisov’s comment of wanting to play with Bedard from a year or so ago. With one guy I was talking with a couple of months ago I said if he doesn’t sign by Sept 1 and the owner says something, he’s gone. I was just messing with him, but things got hilarious when Leopold said things were close.

I wouldn’t get my hopes up that he’ll wind up in Chicago.

    Neither will I.
New 32 Thoughts Podcast came out and Friedman is speculating that someone has tampered and whispered big money to his people.
    He thought maybe 7 x 18 or 7 x 20.
What he did *not* mention (my own speculation) is that it could be a no-tax State offering 7 x 16, which is more money than Minnesota.
Friedman said that he did not think Kaprisov was angling for a shorter deal like the McDavid speculation. (said he might be wrong about that though)
Kaprisov’s injury history was brought up as being another factor in trying to navigate the whole process for both sides.

RAMPANT SPECULATION BABY ! WE ARE SO BACK, LETS GO !

I would not sign Knight early, goalies are a fickle group. I would just let the season play out and see how he handles himself over the course of the year.

I actually believe Knight is better than Wolf but most likely won’t be statistically for a couple more years until the defense around him gets better with more experience.

I don’t see Kaprizov leaving the Wild either. As for Davidson, he’s staying patient — likely until the trade deadline — and then looking at UFAs next summer. My own target would be Kyle Connor.

You don’t see him leaving the Wild even though he just turned down $16 mil AAV?

Agreed and it’s best for both parties. Knight bets on himself and Kyle can avoid the chance of signing a pumpkin before Knight plays his first full season. Win-Win.

What else was Bill going to say? “Yep every word Frank posted on Twatter is true and we have zero leverage with this Ruski SOB now. Bring on the lowball offers boys!” Lol

We pretty much know his floor. The defense is going to take a couple years as you say. Locking Knight up early is to our advantage and also sends a message we’re all in keeping young core guys. As I said, I think he’s in a unique situation where shorter term makes more sense to him. Something like 4x$6.75.

I’ve totally stopped using the “reply” button.
No matter what, I highlight some or all of a post and use the “quote” button.

I, too, have had comments disappear when I posted in the comments section that is on the same page as Frenchy’s blogs. These are the comments with the time delay that need some sort of moderator approval.

The title of Frenchy’s daily blogs also appear in the Blackhawks forum and comments are allowed there. I haven’t commented that way so I don’t know if the disappearing act occurs. I am going to start adding my posts to Frenchy’s articles there in the forum section to see what happens. An added benefit is there is no time delay. Your thoughts are posted immediately so it better serves a conversation among us. Seems kind of dumb to read the blog on one page and then go to another page to comment, but it is what it is.

EDIT – Make sure you are logged in on the FORUM page. Go to FORUM, CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS, select the title of Frenchy’s blog. The first comment is from Frenchy with a link to his blog, click on the link, read the blog, then the comments section at the end of the blog is in the forum type layout. Just add your comment via hitting reply or quote if applicable. Then the comment is posted immediately.

I also know that when a comment is added it goes to Frenchy via e-mail. He does a good job of responding to each comment, but his replies aren’t addressed so you have to read between the lines to figure out to whom he is responding. (If I may suggest maybe he can add for example @boilermaker, @metalhead, @assman22, etc. at the beginning of each of his responses.) Not blaming Frenchy for the quirks in the system, but maybe he deletes his incoming e-mail after responding and then our posts disappear here too?

rpete, do you have any concerns about Knight’s mental issues that took him out of the game for a bit? Do you think that factors in the Hawks’ thinking as far as a contract?
