Good sign by KD. As far as Reichel, hopefully the light goes on. He was a PPG player in the AHL, so the talent is there, maybe Blashill can get him going, otherwise he will be moved.

It’s nice to see 2 guys signed already before their RFA contracts are up.

I know it may seem like Knight could of gotten paid more if he would of held out but i think he’s just happy he’s in a place where he gets a chance to be the main guy and kind of like Hjalmarrsson he already got $13,500,000 mil in his current contract, damn that’s $30 mil in 6 years.

Also Knight’s contract has a 15 team no trade clause the last year.

Was able to see the stream of the SHL game Lulea vs. Malmo on FloHockey today. Lulea won easily, 5-0. Some prospect notes:

    William Håkansson Lulea, 8-Oct-07 6-4 207 LD (2026 Eligible, Wiz #15)
Hakansson’s size stands out and he fits the profile of the big, agile defenseman that we see more and more recently. Currently ranked mid-1st round for 2026. He is a smooth skater that makes good, accurate passes. Played conservatively as this is only his fourth game; was careful to stay back on defense and not jump into the rush too quickly. Had a turnover in front of his net on a back pass that maybe he wasn’t expecting. Good change of direction, acceleration and positioning. Hard to tell much from first game but looks as if he will improve quickly, development of his offense might determine his draft slot. Kind of resembles Radim Mrtka who went #12 to Colorado in 2025. 47-7-15-22 82 PIM last year in Sweden J20.

    Casper Juustovaara (Karlsson) Lulea, 25-Oct-07 5-8 168 C (2026 Eligible)
Juustovara is a smaller player but has the movement and energy that you are looking for. Pushed forward on offense and looked to receive passes down low. Had a shot block and was very disruptive on penalty kills, using stick to break up passes and clear the zone. Could get some late-round consideration in 2026 if he can generate some offense.
New to the SHL this year, 50-14-24-38 in J20 last year in Sweden J20.

    Isac Nilsson, Malmo 10-Apr-07 6-0 176 LW (Undrafted 2025)
Was opportunistic on offense and had a couple of chances including a breakaway. Dropped through the draft last year and would need a jump in scoring to get consideration in 2026.
New to league, 1 SHL game last year, had 43-11-19-30 in J20.

Great take on the Spencer Knight contract ???? My article is written but I’m waiting on HHS to release it.

In the meantime, a few prospect notes:
    • Frondell had a strong game today.
    • Kanarsky is off to a hot start in the VHL: 2–0–1 with a 1.62 GAA and .956 SV%.
    • Kancerov is looking solid in his first three games — only one point so far, but he’s logging big minutes and playing an important role.

I think if Reichel could learn how to backcheck with his speed, he would make himself more valuable to this team. It is a make or break year for him.

Reichel has to be in board battles and win them. Go into the corner, behind the net get a few wrap arounds or come out with the puck and feed guys in the slot and in front of the net. He’s tall but light.

I’m liking this Russian goalie, Bereznoy. Mostly under control, knows where his net is and is square to the shooter.

I’m thinking Arty is going to be in the Rock this year.

Really liked the team speed tonight

Really good reactions. Likes to come out and play the puck which can be good or bad, but he has time to calibrate that in the AHL.

And as much as I initially didn’t like the Cumby pick, he held his own tonight. He is 20 yo already so maybe he stays in Rockford instead of returning to Seattle.
