ParticipantI’m ascared to post more than a sentence cuz who the f%#* knows where it ends up but I like everything Blashill has done so far. His club has looked structured and considering the age of his 1 and 2C and a couple practically children in the D core, amazingly so. ……. How many times do we here about any club that they need to play a full 60 minutes? My eye says this group, under Blashill, has played two full 60 minute games.
Tells me by their structure they are taking his coaching and by 2 full 60 minute efforts they’ll play hard for the guy. … That’s good.

ParticipantAnd pairing Artie with Kaiser has been gold. Zero chance Artie puts up a 53 and 64 CF% in the 2 games without Kaiser’s IQ, skating, reads and compete. …

ParticipantGood God this software……. Artie had a 53 corsi v the champs, 64 at Bpston. He’s 19 yrs old man and I think he leads the club in corsi for by a bunch. The eye test in these two games has shown a player who’s skill/skating/offensive upside can impact the game but he has some real WTF moments and his 3 stick penalties in the 2 games may have cost the team a win or even 2.
I came on to post if he keeps up these penalties they’re gonna have to sit him but man, the 19 yr old has underlying numbers that says you can’t. ………
Two be fair to Levshunov, one of those penalties was make believe and the other was a pretty soft call. He is raw still and not yet matured, which is why ultimately he should probably be playing AHL minutes right now, but yeah the talent is evident.

ParticipantWell, we found out that the hawks have two pretty good young Goalers
I sincerely hope that Soda can remain above .900 and become a solid backup and maybe trade bait down the road.
But dang, even when he plays well he gives me the agita.
Very spastic looking in the crease.October 10, 2025 at 12:33 pm #41145Metalhead

The thing is, on a solid team they would be playing 14-15 minutes a night as the 3rd pair. The stats like Corsi have been also a factor of the somewhat sheltered starts Blashill has given. Rinzel, Murphy, Del Mastro, have gotten the majority of the Dzone starts, where as the Kaiser/Levshunov pair have been given more of the Ozone starts.

ParticipantBurakovsky. The play where he took a pass near the sidewalll deep, turning head up immediately looking at the slot, sees Bedard weakside, his feet move a tad to get a clean passing lane, the instant it opens his hands zip a flat pass in Bedard’s wheelhouse and he strikes.
That’s other level top 6 IQ, feet and hands. It’s in there with this 30 yr old who shows back class all the way back to the Hlinka. Guess we’ll find out why he’s been a middle 6er, only hit 60 pts once and in his 700 NHL games averages a bit over 1/2 point per. ……. But make no mistake, Burakovsky has serious traits, always has, and IMO is the 2nd best talent, after TT, he’s played with in the NHL.
Tried to respond to you Frenchy, TWICE, in your article about mates for Bedard yesterday before I said Fu#& this. Basically I was posting to my eye Bedard is different this yr. So different that I don’t think who his mates are the kid is gonna be dangerous. The surety in everything he does, combined with 2 NHL seasons and offseasons, is vastly different even when he had the nice hollow points rookie yr. Sure, the better his mates the more points and all that kinda stuff but this kid is gonna get a few HDCF every game no matter his mates. Combine that with what I feel is the best shot I have ever seen the kid looks like he won’t be denied.
How much he can make his mates better yet, the mark of a top player, we’ll see but I don’t think his mates can drag him down.

ParticipantB Bag, excellent post and points. Indeed, I didn’t do even close to a deep dive into the fancies when posting about Artie. I just rarely do that anymore, so many hours down the NST rabbit hole I get PTSD when I visit the site and as a result depend greatly on guys like you who contribute to that discussion…….. The eye test shows me very little structure outa Artie, a lot of inconsistency yet his CF% is excellent. Tells me without sliding all the way to the right at NST to see zone starts that Artie is sheltered. Eye test says that right?
But still brah, the eye is telling us Bedard and Nazar were dangerous in Florida but they had 25 CF% and you know they’re sheltered. 19 yr old Artie was 53 CF% being sheltered in the same game.
I’m with you dude. We see what the kid can do at 19. I’d love for him to get 50-60 games in the AHL and come back later in the yr and stack his physical traits on top that foundation. But if he stays up and is able to stay paired with Kaiser I don’t think he’ll be stunted like KK was.

ParticipantI know I’ve complained about a few play Arty hasn’t made but I’d rather he be out there than Murphy and Grezel.
So long as they feel as though they are not ruining his development at the NHL level.
The soft calls by the refs have got to stop, ridiculous.
Still don’t understand Nazar getting a penalty for being cross checked several times in the back.

ParticipantHey MH, yea man good old Ralphie Boy and Norton were the real deal and hilarious together and there were a few times Ralph was “ascared”.
Remember Soda 2 yrs ago? One of the most miraculous yr to yr improvement for a hockey player I’ve seen. But yea, there are times he gets a bit scrambly but that’s not a deal breaker. He provides competent depth and maturity to the pipeline but is probably a placeholder in the big picture. ……. Gonna be fun in 2ish yrs when Commesso will be an NHLer. For now it looks like Knight will stand in his way but you never know.
I’m a big Hrabel guy but I watched Gajun enough in the USHL to see the kid has real talent, and question marks too. He’s a wild horse kinda prospect that is really talented and athletic (think Shesterkin style) but his teqnique is raw.

Gotta love the Rat drawing that trip on Artie. Kid left his stick out there and Marchand simply skated thru it and went down… Artie got schooled but he’s a reacher and takes stick penalties. Might take a while but that’ll get cleaned up to some degree. ….. Be fun to see this beast in 5 yrs. For now though it’ll get funky.

I was especially disappointed to see Nazar take that bad tripping penalty.
He was reaching around the entire opponent’s body for a puck he had no chance at.I suppose we are all guilty of “jumping” these youngsters into veteran smarts they don’t have yet.
Less penalties, especially the lazy dumb ones, are a goal that could give them 4-6 team points this year without any other improvement.

ParticipantSorry to you and everyone for how difficult it’s been to comment or reply lately — it’s often not working, and unfortunately, it’s out of my control. I really wish I could fix it.
That said, Bedard is only going to get better. He worked hard this summer and clearly wants to take the next step. If he can improve his faceoffs, it’ll make a big difference in the long run. Honestly, the Blackhawks should consider hiring a faceoff specialist to help both Bedard and Nazar take that next leap.

ParticipantDid Foligno just randomly become great at faceoffs for 2 games or did I forget that he was always good?
October 10, 2025 at 8:17 pm #41234Metalhead
ParticipantIs there some weird logical reason the NHL has zero games on night 4 of the season?
Or is this just the NHL being the NHL? -
