ParticipantFrenchy, I’m on East Coast time, so I only watched the first period.
It was a clown show for both teams.Glad they won it.
Hopefully this sub-30 SOG against is a trend they can sustain, or at least regularly revisit.
Only 2 penalties, that’s a nice thing to see.
Soda has probably defined himself: backup goalie for a non playoff team. Doubt he will ever be more than that. Hope I’m wrong but…..October 16, 2025 at 12:23 pm #42652Breagbag
ParticipantLast night, that was a game where secondary scoring showing up really swung the momentum in the Hawks favor. The bottom 6 gave the Hawks the 3-2 lead and then Nazar scored that nice one. We took advantage of some leaky goaltending and ran away with the game.
Hawks are 2-2-1 and that’s on the back of the bottom 6 showing up with secondary scoring and specifically strong play from the 3rd line. While I didn’t like his play on one of the Blue’s goals, I thought Vlasic played better than he has to start the year. I’ve felt he has only really been “okay” so far this season. He was more into it last night, using his stick well.
Levshunov seems that he will be growing into a real difference maker. Grzelcyk has chipped in pretty well for a PTO signing. He isn’t the best defensively but making some nice passes and can skate the puck well.
For me, this game was a nice step in the right direction, mostly just because of the confidence boost that young teams need.

Yo Coach Dots, you’re coming into the UC to play the Hawks Friday. Who you putting your shutdown line outa to defend, Nazar or Bedard?

ParticipantAbout Connor Bedard
Wonderful to read, especially for those, me, who weren’t near sold that Bedard would reach his ceiling or become close to adequate off the puck. Not that that’s a foregone conclusion but these numbers show a very impactful player. …. The battle wins show it all but you know what, Frenchy, you could see this coming since the Florida game to open the season.
I think it was as far back as after that game I posted I’m not sure who Bedard’s mates are this yr, the kid has the look of a player who will not be denied and won’t be dragged down by mates and these battle win stats are bearing that out. You could see by eye he was more stout, his speed has increased to keep up with his hands and skate by defenders he hasn’t been able to do since turning pro, a knee bend that showed surety and the kid was playing low with leverage.
Once possession numbers improve the kid will start scratching his ceiling.

1 gotta say I’m excited at the fact we possible have a top 6 2nd line in Nazar, Burt and Teuvo.
I believe this is the key in unlocking Bedard, with that being said still Bedard he can beat you with his shot and pass.
Truth be told that 3rd line is no joke either, they seem to either suffocate you or trap the opponent in their own end for more than minute shifts
We’ll see but for me exciting times ahead

ParticipantLast night the goaltending was so bad for St. Louis, and not much better for us; I’m wondering how good we really were?
On another note, has anyone heard from “Hawk-in-the-D”? I miss him.

ParticipantI am glad you are feeling that victory in another Purina Palace.
As all said, there were many moments that made us all happy!
The biggest was the broadcast was that i-game. interview on how his guys could come back.
And all the player actions, and how we are likin’ more a’ them, and we like their joys as our joys,
Ryan Greene’s happiness of scoring, or Lil Frankie, rollin’ out of the pile and wild to celebrate that his
speed and a top gear that managed not injuring Blues’ goolie Hofer, all our forwards tonight were humming.
Truly happy Reichel had a successful night.

ParticipantYou know MH you are correct the goalie had a bad night, that happens but what doesn’t happen in the past couple of years is the Blackhawks don’t take advantage of it.
The most encouraging thing is they didn’t let up, they just kept playing the same style of hockey instead of turtling in their own end.

ParticipantOne interesting quote I saw floating around. Blashill was pretty level headed about the wins.
“Yeah, the other team didn’t play to the level they’re capable of. So I don’t want to make more of it than it is.”
I think overall he is less likely to knee jerk react to the outcome of any particular game or sequence of games.
Probably while he hasn’t juggled lines too much either. He seems to be a guy who reads into more of how you got the win rather than just the end result.I like it, because while we got a couple wins, the team still has a long way to go.

ParticipantWith 7 in 11 games, 18 year old Frondell is tied for 3rd for goals in the SHL. He is actually tied with former Blackhawk (2015-2017) legend Dennis Rasmussen.
Frondell is also leading the SHL in +/- with +11.
