I’m liking the vets that have brought in. Burakovsky for nothing has been a great add, Mikheylev for a 2nd round draft pick and price retention another great add. Teuvo and Burt. Made a mistake signing Brodie, addressed it, brought in Grzelcyk on a Pto and signed him to a very friendly deal.
If and a big if, they keep performing the way they are so do they trade Murphy? I can see Dickinson definitely being traded.
I actually like the under 20 minutes for the rookie defenseman, dressing 7 of them a night. Crazy how Arty takes over 1st PP unit duties and the PP comes alive.

Murphy has been a loyal warrior for years.
He has a 10 team no-trade list according to capwages.
My guess is they let him have a say in it, unless someone not on his NT list offers way too much. (unlikely imho)Dickinson, it all depends on his health.
Overall I wonder how they approach the trade deadline if (just for example) the Hawks are out of the playoffs
but have an outside chance to get in with a great end of year run.
Would they keep the veterans in order to give the team more meaningful games for the youngsters?Like you said, a big “if” but also a lot of variables too.

Actually, it was even better than that! Hawks got Mik, Laffy, AND a 2nd rounder for a 4th rounder. Excited to see where the Florida and NYI picks end up being at the end of the season. Last year with the Jones trade, I assumed the Florida pick would 100% be #28-32 range but now…

Mikhayev is an interesting case. UFA at the end of the year, at 32 y.o. He will be looking for his last big payday. Do you sign him (he probably will want a minimum of 3 years), trade him for an asset at the TDL, or wait until the end of the year and evaluate then?

Just an observation—-
There were no posts in the general thread during the afternoon game.
As Gramps pointed out, the Bears were also playing, and Chicago is a Bears Town before anything else.
So, it’s not like people are going to the General Thread instead of Game Day Thread.
There were simply no Hawks posts during the hockey and football games (I posted late morning, well before puck drop).Between late starts and then an afternoon game, there was less game time posting overall during the road trip.
Maybe when they are in Central and Eastern time zones, there will be more posting during earlier puck drops?The last game thread that I see is the Calgary game.
