Team gets an historic ass kicking and the GM’s scapegoats the 7th D and 13th forward.

I’m happy to see that coaching / management has finally seen the light with Rinzel.
    This was overdue.

Also, imo it is not about scapegoating Rinzel or Slaggert.
Slaggert was not playing much anyway, he needs more regular action. He’ll get that in RFD.
Rinzel has been showing his lack of experience regularly. He needs top minutes and PP work, even some PK would probably be a good idea.

I’m not wild about the fact that, without a callup, they have only 12F and 6D healthy.
Foligno’s “4 week” recovery timeline would have him ready on Sunday. Maybe he is closer to returning?
They’ve been playing 11F so if one guy went down it would not be any different from most games this year.
It seems very risky on defense, if someone gets sick or twists an ankle at practice.
Wednesday is a home game so they could get someone pretty fast but not instantly.

They gotta have a 7th D-man nearby for Wednesday. It would be reckless not to have a plan for that.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

As a guy who doesn’t follow the whole league, how did the Ducks rebuild so fast?

8 years isn’t so fast. That’s what it took for the Devils

    Here’s what I can see—–

Mason McTavish: winner pick at 3rd overall.
Leo Carlsson: picked 2nd right after Bedard, he’s a stud
Cutter Gauthier: relationship w/Phillie went South. Ducks gave up a good young RH D-man in Jamie Drysdale
to get him but the trade went way better for Anaheim than the Flyers.
Beckett Sennecke: not sure if the Ducks have some genius scouting or what, but
he was ranked about 10th in 2024, and they selected him 3rd overall. Worked out great so far.
Jackson LaCombe: young d-man improved greatly.
    Dostal got good.

Signed Killorn when TBL had cap constraints. (IIRC)
Traded for Trouba on the cheap when the Rangers fell apart and let everyone know they were open for business.
Good signings of Kreider and Granlund.

Oh wow, really nice to see you posting here, Steve. You’re gonna love reading Frenchy. Look forward to reading your guy’s interactions.

Nice summary. They also added Gudas too and didn’t trade away Troy Terry for draft picks. Verbeek hit on a lotta picks, trades and signings opting to add legit vets to their young core….. Despite signing TT and Bert KD has chosen to wait to see what his picks develop into before adding significant vets.

A lot of great comments from many people…

But one name that doesn’t get mentioned enough is Martin Madden. He’s been running their scouting department as assistant GM for more than 18 years, and he’s a huge reason this franchise is where it is today. He’s the real key behind their success.

It was a big mistake to rush Rinzel and now they have another Jokiharju, Boqvist, KK situation. Hawks should have signed Orlov in the off season. Rinzel could be growing in Rockford.

KD has fallen in love with his picks and is too passive. At this pace Foligno should win the Hart because the Hawks have looked worse than the Richardson years in several games since he was hurt. Buffalo, Seattle, Nashville, ANA first 45 seconds, LA, Sunday in ANA.

Only need 12/6 for Wednesday and can callup someone for Friday if needed. Hogs are in Iowa on Wed night and home on Fri night.

Would like to see Rinzel/EDM pairing in Rockford.

Where were you on the last road trip? Oh yeah, things went well.

Blackhawks have recalled forward Dominic Toninato from the IceHogs.

Toninato, 31, has 17 points (five goals, 12 assists) in 24 games this season with Rockford. He appeared in 20 NHL games with the Winnipeg Jets the previous three seasons combined. The Blackhawks signed Toninato to a two-year, two-way contract on July 1.

Verbeek took over 2 months after Davidson in 2022. There is exactly one player (Terry) on the roster that preceded the “Little ball of hate”.

Man every time I see Senecke I wonder how he was not considered a top 10 pick. What a fine young player.

On another note you had to figure about this time the Hawks were going to wear down. How many have played this many games/practices in a season ( the college guys primarily) that they have already played in the season this far.

They said these were the moves they were going to make, KD even said something Blashill had said, when it gets to a point when we think a player is trying to survive instead of strive its time for them to be sent to the Rock to work on their game.

I think they are handling this season great.

So i guess the timeline only matters to you but not the 2 completely directions both clubs were going in at the time both GMs took over, cool.
