Dad Gummit. That Bedard injury is not good news. If he is gong to be out for an extended period, say good bye to the season and his possible Olympic participation.

The offense is really going to suffer since he’s been involved in 44 of the team’s 91 goals – just about half. Time for Nazar to put on his big boy pants and start contributing.

My Christmas wish, Quinn Hughes doesn’t resign in Minnesota after this trade.
Or they pay him $17 million per year.

I will say the Nucks did very well in that trade. Not a Rossi fan but gets them someone up the middle for years to come but the big addition is Buium and that 2026 1st. And yes, I’d really like to see Hughes walk from Minnesota over the Jersey when his current deal is up.

Now that they brought Lardis up I’d like to see the line of Moore, Nazar and Lardis and just let them be.

With the new cap rules of teams having to be cap compliant for the playoffs, and there is no proration of salaries for players traded, it will be interesting to see how many of the overpaid vets KD is going to be able to move.

He has 2 retention spots available, and 4 overpaid vets going UFA (Murphy, Foligno, Dickinson, Mikhayev)

Gryzlek probably has the most value, as he is only getting paid $1 million.

Conversely the Hawks will be approx $30 million under the cap next season minus whatever deal Bedard signs. The remaining UFA’s left (Panarin,
Is probably the top) are pedestrian at best. Does KD go the offer sheet (or trade) using his draft capital for a Jason Robertson, Cole Perfetti, Dylan Holloway), or does he fill out the roster with a TT, Bertuzzi type like an Oliver Bjorkstrand.

On the bright side of tonight’s game, the Kid line was the best line tonight.

Although the team record doesn’t show it, IMO Kaiser has been fantastic, and has been the best overall D on the team.

Hey LA, strongly agree with you about Kaiser. He moves the puck well and surprising often wins the puck in board battles.

I think we’ll be getting an unwanted player that a contender moves to obtain a better player like a Hamilton. On the Hawks, like Burakowsky, that player will be an upgrade.

I am devastated that the Hawks released Marcel Marcel! Good luck, Buddy. I was heartbroken over the loss to Toronto. It looked like they had no interest in playing that game and then the third period happened. I hope they keep the rookie line together. It shows promise. I also hope that Blashill does not go back to the 11/7 split.

    Thanks for your comment.

First, Marcel Marcel requested the release himself to pursue opportunities in Europe. He didn’t see a realistic path to the NHL with the Blackhawks organization, so this was more about opportunity than the team moving on from him.

I understand the frustration after the loss to Toronto, but I disagree that the team showed no interest. The Blackhawks competed hard for over 55 minutes. Unfortunately, the game turned quickly with two goals in eight seconds, and that changed everything.

As for the rookie line, I agree — it showed promise. It should be back together tonight, especially with Levshunov returning to the lineup and EDM coming out.

We’ll see if Blashill sticks with it, but there are encouraging signs moving forward.

Yeah, I like to think winning in Montreal tonight starts with a strong attack zone presence” that couldn’t never really emerged.
It would be lovelier to already be benefitting from past draft picks,
and I wish that there already were useful possibilities precolating in Rockford that they could draw in for games like this one tonight.

You know another an off-puck defender type forward, and you could’ve added in that size out there playing a Dach-like in establishes. And you want that guy to have Frondell-like upside, but moreover, that you are showing the Montreal advance-takers don’t just see those same not even Nazar-like enough to be asked to occupy long clock and take those beat’ns, over & over, heck, if we had a few more this would be a perfect time to use them.

It always bothers me when games finally see a team desperate to score, the more they are pushing leading to them to becoming receivers of over-physical
“defense” that has no chance of seeing an arm go up.

Habs realize the ‘hawks are fast, but at this juncture they didn’t have a big pushy then likes of who maybe one of their other selections, he bigger boys.

Yeah, I like to think winning in Montreal tonight starts with a “strong attack zone presence” that emerges in the likes of Behn, Bosivert, West, Nestrasil, or Vanacher. A strong attack zone presence means big, quick-stick forwards, grabbing pucks and establish more physicality than our lines could adequately provide for us, given they are no giants who possess the match-up against them tonight. No wonder if Foligno felt it too, so wanting to play.

Well, I, the poor sport doesn’t think Roman Kantserov is the answer to strong attack zone presence” either.

Where is our leading goal scorer from last year?

I could be wrong, but it feels like Blashill isn’t a big fan of Donato — or at least that Donato isn’t the type of player Blashill prefers.

I can’t see a Donata riff with the Coaches as a point that lefts the organization iof the hook.
Donato and so many of them just are not build to get pounded and sustain pressure, and that isn’t their faults, but they needed a bigger boy dominant player last game and they doesn’t HAVE THEM READY FOR PRIME TIME.

I love the current roster of forwards, and will not see their toolboxes as deficits, but they all lack what this tram needed in terms of a guy built to counter act the Hab’s thwart.

Let’s see to it that the current losses contribute to mybe sliding just a little closer to the top spost and they get a skilled physical offensive puck controlling attacker…

The Kraken look like a team that could become sellers very soon. Mason Marchment will be a UFA at the end of the season, and Kyle Davidson has some cap space to work with.

He’s the type of player who fits the prototype the Blackhawks could target — size, edge, and a style that can complement their young core.
