Good call, Frenchy, on the Kraken trading Marchment. He was traded to the Blue Jackets last night for a 2nd and 4th round picks.

Danault also traded from the Kings to the Canadiens. LA gets a 2nd back. Good article here about the Habs taking the next step in their rebuild by trading away assets to get a player that help them now and next year.

The Kraken look like a team that could become sellers very soon. Mason Marchment will be a UFA at the end of the season

Frenchy, good call on Marchment being available. Columbus swooped in, not a super huge cost.
He has a 10 team no trade list, I wonder if the Hawks tried for him. If so, were the Hawks on his list?
Columbus is last in the East, so it’s not like he went there for a playoff run this year.
Maybe they already shot him a number for his next contract?

Ehhh i don’t think the problem is size as much as want. I think the loss to the Leafs really hurt this team mentally.

Our best player being hurt doesn’t help either.

These kids are learning and i don’t care what their size is vs the Habs what happened to driving the net and having support or even doing a drop pass as the forward forces his way to the net, it is a lost art, no they are staying outside and constantly looking for a perfect pass which is rarely there now because the league adjusted to them.

What i don’t understand is if you are the better skating team why on defense the players are not playing on the hip of each player in the zone?

Gotta play on the right side of the puck and no matter your size you must be physical you can’t play fly by hockey and when they lose by big numbers it’s exactly how they play.

Hate to say it but I don’t think they’ll win another game with Soda in net, he looks terrible now

But as i said before they gave us a glimpse of what they’ll be next year on a more consistent basis

Kansterov will help because he is a skilled 200 foot hockey player and goes to the dirty areas.

Lardis goal today was in front of the net

Plus the young dmen getting these tough games in will help as well.

And I’ll just keep saying what I’ve said before once the kids realize they have to be mean bastards in this league the team will begin to have playoff aspirations.

You already see it with the next captain of the Blackhawks

    Danault is pretty much done

    Marchment? Does he play hockey

If a player had Chicago on a no trade list and was ok with Columbus, we don’t need that guy. Too stupid!

    Point taken.

That’s why I wondered if maybe the CBJ shot him a contract number he liked to go there.
That would make the most sense imo. Maybe we’ll find out.

I don’t think KD has/had any interest in acquiring Marchment, thus it is moot whether Marchment had Chicago on his no trade list or not.

It’s just a point of curiosity sir, since Frenchy mentioned Marchment being available and he went to a team low in the standings.

don’t know exactly which teams are on his list, but when I spoke with Jim Nill last season about Mason Marchment, he was clear about the situation.

Dallas needed to clear cap space and was open to moving Marchment. One key point: Marchment wanted to play in a market with very low taxes. Canada was not an option for him.

I don’t know if Chicago is on his list or not.

I’ve also been told by an insider that the Kraken could still move two more players, so this is something to keep an eye on.

Based on points percentage, Hawks with the worst record and in the #1 draft choice slot. Just a week or so ago, the Hawks were in a playoff position. The standings are currently tightly bunched and a winning streak would surely move them out of the basement. With Bedard and now Nazar injured that streak is easier said than done.

With all that said, the WJC torunament begins Friday. Good time to watch some of the potential top draft picks – McKenna, Verhoeff, and Stenberg to name a a few.

Now that Nazar is hurt, this team is about to take the plunge. Should be an active trade deadline day!

KD and the fans got a taste of winning earlier in the season and it felt good. If there’s a trade to be made I’m sure he will make it. Finding the match is always the difficult part. That said, we were at our best when we were using our speed. Therefore, I would expect KD would continue looking to those types of players. The Mik’s and the Bura’s. Wondering why/what happened with KD’s Lafferty move?

    Marchment’s son.

3rd team in 3 seasons is happening?

Wishful thinking that the Blackhawks go out looking for trades to supplant Nazar & Bedsy. Losses as fill-ins. Upgrade
    To make a play-off run?
A run comes if Bedard leads them there with the signed rostered players. That’s why they have Lafferty and Toronto and Slaggert and enough well in Rockford to draw from.

You really think Kyle from Chicago has to spend for guys they will ave to decide resigning at market, it really doesn’t fit, and an outside signing that could lead to a “couple “ more wins only works against selecting higher in this 2026 draft even without a lottery win.
