Just seems weird to pluck a guy like that off waivers and expect him to be a full time player.
He played 0 games last year and 53 pretty bad games the year before. Doesn’t seem like much of an improvement in terms of a full time player.
In terms of 4th liners, he seems more like Pezzetta than the other 4th liners they have.
McDavid signed for 12.5M because he knows Marner is his closest comparable in the league.
Marner and McDavid won gold for Team Canada.
My prediction is Marner and McDavid will win a cup in Vegas. Marner will already have one or two, but will get 4+ when McDavid joins him.

Marner cant be compared to anyone tbh. He’s the best defensive fwd on that list. VGK will win the cup, and multiple more because of MM16.
Does that mean he’s the most valuable player in the NHL? No. But he’s more valuable than any Leaf ever. More valuable than someone who’s in their mid-30’s on the backside of their career.
Right now Canada’s most valuable assets are McDavid, Makar, Marner. MacKinnon will start to digress but will be good into his late 30’s like Sid. Point is also really good.
