Participantimagine crying over Tarasenko who makes 4.75m scored 11 goals.. and won a cup with stl, 7 years ago
If the Leafs are going to waste cap space on soft wingers, they’re better off doing it with guys who at least have a chance of of proven playoff success. He also won a Cup with the Panthers 2 years ago.
Or maybe you enjoy watching the Leafs keep make the same mistakes and lose every year when it matters.
Enjoy Malgin 2.0.

ParticipantUGs biggest concern when we all moved on from Mitchy-pooh was how do you replace his 102pts. Well, we just got roughly 50 for $3.5M, so now we have $9Mish to get another 52 I guess. Seems very doable.
The Panthers has zero players even remotely close to 100pts, and they won the Cup. You need 4 lines that can score to be successful, you figure after watching this team for the last almost decade one could figure that out.

ParticipantHas anyone figured out if UG and Jewel are the same person?
And how does Drexel fit into this jackass threesome?
Actually, Drexel didn’t bother me nearly as much as the other two.
Drexel was less dumb

Hey, he fetched the much sought after prospect Future Considerations. The Wild are going to miss him.

He’s an RFA next year when there’re real FA options hitting the market. I have no problem with team taking some chances on guys with expiring contracts.

Wrong again. Barkov and Tkachuk have both had seasons of 95-100 points in their career. You’re lying to yourself to try and make this garbage player seem better than he is. He had 8 goals and 18 points last year, -13. That’s not a guarantee for 50 points. It’s also not a guarantee that even if he does get 50 points that they’ll be worth anything in the playoffs or if he’s a minus. But I bet you thought Malgin would score 50 points too.
You need stronger, two-way players to be successful. This guy is another tiny, weak, defensive liability playing with Tavares and Nylander. You figure watching this team lose the same way every year you’d learn a fucking thing by now.

id wait for the summer to play out and see where the Leafs Land before shitting your pants.
If they move on from some of Kampf, Yarnk, Roberston and HombergLooking at Malgin vs Macelli i dont see the comp. Malgin was 26 points per 82, Maccelli has 34 assists per 82 (48p), much more of a playmaker

You should look closer. Tiny, one-way, wingers with 0 playoff experience is a waste of cap space for what this team needs to have real playoff success.

Participantif taking Roberson spot, thats fine. but still need more
Jordan Schmaltz
#LeafsForever faithful a couple quick notes on newly acquired Matias Maccelli, the pride of Turku Finland. A silky smooth highly skilled left winger that is just one season removed from a 57 point campaign. He fell out of favor last season with the coaching staff in Utah and found himself soul searching for his confidence to go along with finding favorable ice time as he battled injury in the eye of the storm. When he’s at his best he controls the play by hanging onto pucks and extending plays with his elite first step in and out of cutbacks. A magician with the puck that plays really well in “high ice” of the offensive zone, spreading out a defense generating grade A’s. The change of scenery could do this kid wonders. He’s such a talent. I hope they let him play his game in Toronto. A guy that slots in the middle 6 and takes a fella like Nick Robertson’s spot. Will be cheering for MM. Love his game too..June 30, 2025 at 2:43 pm #13715Dozzer

Good thing they’re not keeping an over priced Marner then. He disappears in games 5 through 7 when the refs put their whistles away and the games become truly physical.
At least the new guy puts up 50% of the points at 25% of the cost assuming his new salary will be at least $14 mill.

ParticipantUG could quite literally be the leafs GM himself and he’d criticize all his moves online lol
You’re happy with this trade?
Tarasenko just got traded to Minnesota for future considerations. I’d rather have him, at least he played under Berube when they won the Cup, than this piece of shit.
I don’t expect a star but a 24 year old fast skating playmaker at 3.4 is fine for the price. If he fails, they can let him go as an RFA or try to trade him at seasons end. He’s the right age and has a decent track record for 2nd/3rd line scoring. He might be a flop, it’s perfectly possible, but the cost was almost nothing outside of cap and it isn’t a huge cap hit.
More like a single than a home run, but sometimes you need to take chances when you don’t have any prospects you expect to make the jump outside of one guy.

Must be why Marner helped win 3 games against Florida with a GWG, and two primary assists on GWGs (one in Game 6).
Marner is going to look great holding the Cup over his head in Vegas, just like Kadri did in Colorado.

ParticipantI didn’t realize Provorov was a UFA tomorrow, how do y’all feel about him instead of Barkov? Not sure how the Leafs would make either work as Rielly is 100% going to be a Leaf forever.

BWAHAHAHAHA, bros acting like the 4 foot pass Marner made in game six couldn’t have been made by literally anyone in the NHL.

This guy fills none of the boxes the Leafs need to succeed in the playoffs. Even if he does reach his potential of 50 points as some are praying for, he doesn’t have the attributes or the skills the Leafs need to beat the Panthers. I don’t see a one-way, tiny, winger like this on the Panthers.
If they’re talking to Utah, they must be aware that Jack McBain exists. Make a bigger trade to acquire a guy like that who actually fills what the Leafs need.
