a 4th rounder for this year draft.

    oh! man.

Yup and no salary retained. The oilers must have someone on their radar….that and clearing cap space for Bouchard.

I think it’s just that they need the cap space badly to sign Bouchard because Dry Saddle jumps from 8.5 last year to 14M this year.

I heard it on Spittin’ Chicklets when Biz was chriping Whitney but it’s kinda true – Oilers are about to enter their “Core 4” era.

    Mc Jesus – 12.5

    Nurse – 9.25

    Bouchard – 10M?

I mean at least it’s 2 F and 2 D but still this is going to put them in a tight spot. Hearing they are going to also try to trade Arvidsson just to clear space and I read that an offer sheet for Bouchard may occur.

Nice to read about these things and it not be about the Leafs for a change. lol

He has a NMC, so he will need to approve the trade destination.
They will also need the cap space for a goalie. I’d say between 6.5M to 8M depending who they target.

yeah keep dreaming. he ain’t going anywhere for now.
Unless Vancouver trades Hughes to NJD, then I could possibly see a 3 way deal involving Rielly with possibility of Hamilton going to the Leafs.

Hughes will not stay in Vancouver long term. And I don’t blame him. One of the worst places in North America to live and he wants to play with his brothers.

They’re going to need Rielly, home town boy, to replace part of his production.

Rielly to Vancouver or Seattle can be done, just a matter of the Leafs actually having the balls to push Rielly out the door.

Doubt very much New Jersey would trade Hamilton to Toronto, don’t think they could afford to fit him anyway.

he’s be part of a package that went for Hughes. So he would be coming via Vancouver. 3 team trade ……..

Well at least two of their core 4 will be the best players in the league, ones that do well in the playoffs and at least their team has consistently made it past the 2nd round.
They have $16m in cap space…$10 of that will be eaten up by bouchard.
Unless they do a bouchard for Dobson trade?

They wont be spending that kind of money on a goalie. They could move out pickard ($1m) or either skinner ($2.6m) and spend about $5m on a goalie.

Not if they trade for Swayman or Gibson.

Why would the oilers be interested in either? Gibson sucks, swayman is ok but too expensive.
Besides, Im sure there would be cap retention unless the oilers are unloading a contract of their own the other way.

sure, peterka has more games, points, better pts/gm, goals gm, season high points etc etc.
pretty much every catgory hes got better numbers.

    so far.

if they Leafs could get knies for similar cap but longer term, its a win I think

    but taxes blah blah

Don’t like ruin my high bro….I was trying to make myself feel better! lol

Sadly you are right though, 2 of the core 4 (hell Bouchard was a monster 2 years ago in the playoffs too, Nurse is, well Nurse) if the Leafs core had gotten to the cup finals back to back years I’d be all aboard the run it back train!

I do feel like Bouchard is going to be overpaid regardless where he goes, he has a cannon but his Defensive game is m’eh at beast IMO.

To answer your ? as to why – it’s the Oilers! The same Oilers who thought Soupy was the solution to their goaltending woes….I could totally see them going after either of those guys (Gibson or Swayman) to be honest. Not sure what other options are out there and available – maybe they can get Vancouver to trade them Demko since they have Lankinen and Silovs as well.

Demko will be going into his final year of his current deal at 5M.

Swayman would be a good move for Edmonton if he was available. But i dont know why Boston would move him now after just signing him
