ParticipantYup.
Plus they are not very talented.
The leafs will have a media circus already this season, dont need to add garbage humans to the mixOh man, the leafs have that every year, it’s just amplified this year. All adding that would do is bring “boos” to home games whenever that guy stepped on the ice. Not from the entire crowd, but from a notable amount.
These guys will have to play in places like Columbus where their fanbase haven’t even heard the news.

ParticipantOne idea is to sign Carter Hart for a 1 year $1M contract, then trading Stolarz for a package of picks and or prospects. Stolarz is in the last year of his contract and he’s going to want a huge raise. Stolarz was very good last year, but as usual, has injury issues. It could also be his career season and at 31 years old, he may just become Jack Campbell 2.0. Leafs should consider Hart as a backup to Woll, who’ll be the #1 going forward.

ParticipantThis will be completely unpopular but….People are shitting on these guys because when they were kids they had a girl that wanted to party. 95% of 17-18 year olds would have done the same thing under the same circumstance. The only crime here was the fact that they lost years of salary. This has been a shit show clown circus right from the beginning.
It has nothing to do with “Hockey Culture” Almost any group of young single guys out for a night on the town meet a girl that is looking for some fun with all of them. Happens every weekend in any large city and university or college town in North America.
When this story came out before the trail there was an article that came out that claimed this whole thing got kicked off originally because the girls mom found out what happened. The way it was originally handled by the police and hockey Canada was laughable but the fact that prosecutors decided to pick the case up and re trail it was 100% political and as was seen in the trail the evidence was so week that this should never have even gone to trail.
100% correct. The rush to the moral high ground is virtue signaling which isn’t new or surprising among the usual suspects around here.
She was older than they were, she knew they were famous hockey players, she was down the entire time until she realized she had to come up with a giant lie to cover up the fact she was cheating on her boyfriend. She tried to make herself the anonymous victim, probably explored a way to exploit it for money too by forcing Hockey Canada to get dragged into this mess by paying her a settlement. Luckily, the legal system actually worked and the woke idiot mob didn’t get what they wanted.
Not. Guilty.
These guys are not the same people today they were when this all happened. And they’ll be the absolute last ones to ever try to do anything like this again because their careers and reputations have already been tarnished despite not being guilty.
The NHL literally has players that have killed people (manslaughter) before. Many might not know this but Casey Cizikas killed another kid during a rugby game. Nobody cares.
Despite what some idiots will want to believe, they’re not garbage people (currently) and they’re not garbage hockey players. They definitely have talent, they are in their prime years and they were found not guilty. Whatever circus the media will try to create to get these mouth breathing click bait idiots will go away after a few days. And then it’ll just be about hockey again.
If the Leafs signed these guys, the same morons that pretend they’d be appalled would cheer like 8 year old kids if they scored a playoff goal.

Don’t think the Leafs would be willing to roll the dice with the goalie position especially with Woll still being a high risk for injury.
They could sign McLeod, Foote and Formenton as depth players because even if they bust out, you replace them cheap and quick. But if you trade Stolarz, then Woll gets hurt and all the pressure is on Hart to stand on his head? That’s a powder keg waiting to explode.
If and when they’re allowed to play again, Hart would probably prefer Edmonton anyway. It’s his hometown, they’d probably be more willing to take the risk on him given their goaltending issues. The Flyers also have question marks in net and he might just go back to the only organization he’s ever known.

Sigh you don’t get it.
Doesn’t matter if YOU forgive them.
A HUGE portion of our population does not.
And that will never change.
Argue all you want.
It will never change.
The end.

It’s actually not. It’s a very small, disproportionately loud group of lunatics.

Incorrect, they affect media, marketing, therefore, income. The amount of physical people no longer matter.

Yeah, because the Leafs lost billions of dollars, relocated the team and Matthews got traded when he pulled down his pants in public like a drunken loser in front of a female security guard. Oh wait…that never happened because they actually don’t. The building would still be full, ticket prices unchanged. The beers would be too. And the media deal will still be paid, in full. The amount of raging lunatics online (most of which don’t actually drive real revenue except for articles farming rage click bait) no longer matter. All it takes is for some time to pass and they move on to the next thing to rage about like a cat chasing a laser pointer. But yeah, physical people no longer matter, I’m sure the online bots that generate comments to sway the opinions of simpletons will start buying seasons tickets.
Many people here found ways of brushing it off like it didn’t matter. Why? Because the high and mighty morality police looked the other way when it’s an elite player but won’t afford the same for average players who were not only deemed NOT GUILTY but also have earned a second chance as this entire joke of a trial was for something that happened SEVEN YEARS ago and they’ve never done anything even remotely like that again since while under NHL contract. Matthews did that while under NHL contract at 22 after signing a huge contract and being a new face of the league, not as an 18 year old. But you and many others didn’t call for Matthews to be suspended, traded or ineligible to play. Patrick Kane? Casey Cizikas? Long list of players the SJW should be protesting but don’t. Because they don’t actually matter.
There’s millions of people who watch the Leafs because they love the Leafs and want to see the Leafs win. The same reasons that make millions of blind homers think losing elite players and replacing them with garbage will turn the tide and beLeaf “this is the year” will make them accept giving these players another chance if it improves the hockey team.

ParticipantDoesn’t matter if YOU forgive them.
This is kinda my point.. There is nothing to forgive.. The error here was made by
1) The initial police investigation(Which was half assed)
2) Hockey Canada
3) The crown prosecutor that decided to try the case based of a civil settlement that the players didnt even know about. The judge did everything but come out and call her a liar.
These guys had their names dragged through the mud and likely have permanent harm to their reputation when they did nothing wrong but party with the wrong.
The NHL is now saying they are ineligible to play because they has consensual sex with a woman. Guess they will need to shut the league down and suspend 99% of the players. My assumption at this point is consensual sex with a man puts you in a marginalized group and that then makes it ok.
I cannot believe I am on the same side of this argument as UG. I feel dirty.

Sure, if you’re a piece of shit.
What they did was still very suspect.
Everything about this case wreaks of failure. Two juries were dismissed, judge seemed to bias against the girl, many things were ruled inadmissible.
None of these guys will be signed by the leafs. I know ug loves his rapist and molesters, but sorry bud these sacks of crap arent going to be leafs. So save us the pages of your stupidity.July 26, 2025 at 11:27 am #18275Fakepartofme

None of these players will help the leafs win…so who cares.
Leafs arent signing them…end of story.

Actually, being found not guilty and still being suspended makes them a minority group so to remain diverse, equitable and inclusive, they should be allowed to play.
Feels dirty to be correct? You’ll adapt.

People like you are why the justice system exists, to protect people from idiots like you.
You wanted them to be guilty, you were wrong so now you’re going to pretend they’re guilty anyway, regardless of the facts and the outcome.

Find something else to whine about. So, being the hypocrite that you are, when Matthews pulls his pants down in public like a drunken idiot, you don’t care because you beLeaf he will help the Leafs win games. But if the players aren’t good enough, ban them for life.

99% huh? McLeod texted all the players in London asking if they wanted to come up to his room to join a 3-way. Most stayed away. A few came up but didn’t participate. 5 did. I think your math is a bit off.
There are two sets of decisions, one in court and one by the league and teams.
The judge’s decision came down to her conclusion that EM was not drunk enough or afraid enough to invalidate her consent. The actions of the players was not in question.
The league and teams will decide simply on the basis of their behaviour. Do they believe that behaviour reflects the “highest standards of morality, honesty, fair play and sportsmanship and is not detrimental to the best interests of the team, league and professional hockey” as required in player contracts. I don’t think it’s obvious that Gary says yes. The fact that they’re fairly marginal players shouldn’t matter but probably will. The PA will appeal and who knows how long it might get drawn out. If they are allowed to play will any team sign them?
