But also, at the time Marner shouldnt have gotten 10.9 when all the comps were under 10
I “think” ..if they’re comparing the Peterka contract to Knies that the true comps would be 6 x $7M. RFA years worth less than UFA years and Peterka was selling 3 RFA and 2 UFA years. Knies is selling 4 RFA years plus additional UFA years. I’d say Leafs end up doing a 3 yr deal or 6+. 6 or 7 would make sense for both b/c Knies would be 28 or 29 for his next big ticket. Or maybe he takes an 8 yr deal while it’s still available and he’d still be 29/30 when he’s able to negotiate the next one.
6x7M or 7×7.5M or 8×8 ish
But, leafiness and taxes probably end up changing the logic.

really wish the Leafs were able to get Dobson
25yo top pair rhd ..good defense.The leafs have no trade stock, anything they had was moved for a 4th dman and 4th line center.
Besides, I cant see Islanders moving their top Dman to Toronto even if TO had the assets.Nurse could be on the move as well.

Imagine the market for a LHD over 30 that can’t run your PP, sucks defensively, randomly performs great if he’s feeling it and generally is a guy who skates around doing nothing at 7.5mil?

oh I know that, but another reason for me to question Tre moves.Yup his and Dubas’ moves. Dubas kinda screwed Tre with not much in the cupboard and Tre moved out what little we had for depth players.
I really dont know if Tre can properly “change” the DNA of the leafs. Overpaying for Marchand or Bennett is simply not the answer….specially Marchand. I dont want to see him on the leafs, as he wont be utilized as successfully as he was in Florida. In florida he was a 3rd liner playing with other really good 3rd liners against weaker lines. In Toronto, they’ll have him on the 2nd or top line….rendering him much less effective.yes, johnny hometown discount!!
